Anna's POVIt may have been a year, but it felt like an eternity to me.
Like viscous honey that kept moving steadily but slowly. So slowly that my head was about to explode.
Jinji had told me a lot over the year. About him and his classmates, what the timetable was like and whether the food was really edible.
Most of the time it was, he always said.
I couldn't do much with that, but I accepted it.This is day 1. Day 1 as a teacher at U.A. and I almost vomited on the floor. My stupid stomach was turning in a different direction every 10 seconds and I realized that this wasn't school anymore, not even college, but reality. There was no - Oh you messed up. Try again - mentality. Everything was serious here. If I messed up, there would be consequences. Massive.
I took a swig of water from my bottle and hurriedly put it back in my yellowed shoulder bag when I saw Jinji stumbling out of the school entrance and shouting something at me.
"Anna, here! Hello!"
"Hi! You're practically unmissable!" I laughed and suddenly relaxed.
He was wearing his U.A. school uniform, with the old sneakers from his exam days. I had bought them for him as a lucky charm. The scarf was new but it looked great on him. Seeing him again gave me the security of not having to face this monster of a school alone. I raised my arms to give him the best hug a sister could give, when out of nowhere and without warning, a mouse popped out of the scarf.
But it wasn't a mouse. It was bigger. And it was wearing a suit - it was Mr. Nezu. The principal.
"Hello Ms. Hayami - please excuse my appearance, but you have to get creative in this cold!"
Jinji smiled.
"Your brother offered to accompany me and so I took the chance for warm transportation," he chuckled and held out his hand to me.
"Nezu is my name. I'm the principal at U.A. but we've already had the pleasure of
already had the pleasure in writing"
The announcement was open-hearted, almost familiar and yet with a touch of severity.
Elitist rigor.
Not bad at all.
Jinji decided to stay with the principal and me for a while and talked about the school's outdoor facilities and safety precautions, the training grounds, parkour tracks and the school's generally extensive offerings."As it's your first visit, after the formalities we'll tour the rest of the school and introduce you to your colleagues. We have such a colorful crowd of students and teachers, you'll be amazed!" he said proudly. "Die!!!". I winced at the shouting and watched a first grade student loudly attack his classmate in the crowd.
I remembered, to my regret, that I wasn't very good at dealing with problem students.
Nevertheless, with the other colleagues behind me, I shouldn't have any problems.
At least that was my opinion."My lesson is starting, I have to go," said Jinji respectfully, setting the principal down and bowing. Then he made a sweeping turn and said in my direction: "You'd better watch out with the principal, sister. He steals hearts!" Then he disappeared.
The principal's gray-white skin flushed and I smiled gently so as not to make him feel uncomfortable.
He apologized: "I give everything for my school and students. Our teachers are fully committed and I really appreciate that about you."
When we were finally alone, we walked comfortably along a long corridor painted in shades of gray, which seemed quite empty in terms of design and decoration, except for large, knocking doors on the right side of the corridor. To the left, you could see out onto the forest and meadow.
The doors could ward off a troll, as massive as they looked, and I took a closer look at them. They had to be around 3 meters high. I stroked the paint on them. One number and one letter each.
"These are the classrooms of the superhero department. Classes are still in session, but I can show you around afterwards."
I nodded and we continued down the corridor. At the end, there were several drinks and snack machines.
"DIE YOU HALF PORTION! I'll be BETTER than all of you!" The voice sounded familiar.
"Calm down, Katsuki!" one of them said.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, DIE!"
"The boys always have to exaggerate like that," said another.
I cocked my head curiously. A class stepped out of the first room in the corridor and headed for the stairwell.
"This is class 1-A. Some promising candidates have joined us this year."I ignored the statement. "Where are they going?" I asked, looking at my watch."An athletic test that Mr. Aizawa has set up.He wants the students to give their all and surpass themselves." The man in question also seemed to have come out of the room, I assumed, as he seemed older than the others and towered over the class.
He closed the classroom door behind him and followed the pupils. The principal hurried past me. I noticed the scent of lilacs drifting past. For a moment I tried to understand where I was.It was probably the first time I had ever seen a talking mouse or had him as my boss.As a boss.I was finally starting my professional life and I still couldn't get to grips with it.
"Shota!" he shouted and landed in the man's collar with one leap.
At the sight, I wondered what he was wearing around his neck.Besides his black on black outfit, he was wearing a collar made of bandages?
Maybe healing was his specialty, it occurred to me, but I immediately put it out of my mind when I realized that it was quite unhygienic to wear the bandages so openly. You couldn't miss the shudder that came over him when the principal jumped into his collar.
"Our new colleague has arrived today - Anna Hayami, teacher of social work and the healing kitchen"Mr. Aizawa turned around and looked me in the eye.My whole body suddenly seemed to tense up and I felt cold and fear inside me.
But was the fear coming from him or me?
I would almost guess the latter, because his eyes were bloodshot and fixed on me.His hair fell loosely and wildly in his face.He had a three-day beard and yellow glasses loosely around his neck. Comfortable and very slouchy.Perhaps not quite appropriate for school but in the end I didn't care.
I couldn't see his mouth because the collar made of bandages covered it.
He trotted over to us and shook my hand: "Shota Aizawa, nice to meet you. I'm the class teacher of 1-A in the superhero department. If this is your first day, you'll probably have a lot of impressions to process," he said, and I could tell from his tone that he probably hadn't slept for a week and absolutely didn't want to be at school right now."She's very young and has just finished her studies. It'll be a piece of cake for her!" said the principal and sent Mr. Aizawa back to class.
I looked after him and could see some of the students' faces at the end of the corridor. They seemed excited, curious but also anxious.Surely no wonder if they've only officially arrived today. That can change a lot of things in you.A boy with spiky blond hair looked at me. It took me a moment to realize that he was really looking at me. I realized how uncomfortable I felt.
He was doing nothing but watching me and looking deep into my eyes.
It seemed like a small thing to me until Mr. Aizawa grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him along. Why was he looking like that? It wasn't an evil look, nor was it necessarily friendly or curious. He just looked at me.
'Why was he looking like that?
