Brittany and Santana strolled down the crowded hallway of their high school, weaving through clusters of students who were all making their way to the cafeteria. The clamor of lockers slamming and chatter surrounded them as they walked side by side, their shoulders occasionally brushing.
"Do you know where Finn is? I haven't seen him all day," Brittany asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
Santana shrugged nonchalantly, her expression indifferent. "I don't know. You can ask Rachel, though." She nodded towards the corner of the hallway where Rachel stood, frantically tapping away at her phone.
Brittany followed Santana's gaze and saw Rachel, her face a picture of concentration as her fingers flew over the screen. Santana cringed, a hint of disdain flickering across her face. "He's probably skipping school," she said dismissively.
Brittany looked at Rachel once more, her curiosity piqued. But before she could make a move, Santana looped her arm through Brittany's and tugged her gently. "Come on, B. Let's go get something to eat."
Reluctantly, Brittany allowed Santana to guide her away. The two girls made their way towards the cafeteria, the concern for Finn lingering in Brittany's mind. As they approached the double doors, the enticing smell of pizza and fries wafted towards them, momentarily distracting her from her thoughts.
"Don't worry about Finn. He'll turn up," Santana said, her tone more reassuring this time.
Brittany sat next to Mercedes in their English class, absently doodling in her notebook as the teacher droned on about Shakespeare. Her mind was elsewhere, drifting between the lines of the sonnet on the board and the thought of lunch with Santana.
Suddenly, Mercedes leaned over, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hey, Brittany, do you want to come over after school? I got the new Beyoncé album," she whispered, her voice barely containing her enthusiasm.
Brittany's jaw dropped, her eyes wide with surprise. "Oh my god, really! That's awesome but... I need to go to Finn's," she replied, a hint of regret in her voice.
Mercedes frowned dramatically before leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms. "Fine, I'll just listen to 'Love on Top' repeatedly and never talk to you again," she teased, pretending to be hurt.
Brittany giggled at Mercedes' playful pout, her heart warming at her friend's theatrics. "As soon as I'm done at Finn's, I'll come over," she promised, her voice earnest. "We can listen to the whole album together."
Mercedes' frown melted into a wide grin. "You better, girl. I can't experience the queen's new album without you."
The bell rang, signaling the end of class. As they gathered their things, Brittany gave Mercedes a quick hug. "I'll see you later, okay? Save some Beyoncé for me."
"Don't worry, I will. And tell Finn he owes me for stealing you away," Mercedes replied with a wink.
Brittany stood outside Finn's house, frustration evident on her face as yet another call to him went unanswered, directing her straight to voicemail. With a heavy sigh, she contemplated her next move. Should she just barge into his house uninvited? The idea lingered in her mind for a moment before she muttered, "Fuck it."
Turning off the engine, she climbed out of her car, ensuring it was securely locked before making her way to the front door of Finn's house. Knocking politely, she waited for a response, but after ten seconds of silence, she knocked again, growing increasingly concerned.
Frowning, Brittany glanced around before deciding to take matters into her own hands. With a deep breath, she turned the doorknob and stepped inside, closing the door behind her. "Finn?" she called out, her voice echoing through the quiet house as she began to make her way towards his room.
As she ascended the stairs, the silence enveloped her, save for the sound of her own footsteps. However, as she reached the corner leading to Finn's room, her attention was drawn to a trail of dirty footprints leading towards the room. Nervously, she laughed and called out, "Finn, if this is some sort of prank, it isn't funny at all."
Pushing open the door to his room, Brittany's eyes fell upon an empty plastic orange bottle lying on the floor in front of the bathroom door. Curiosity piqued, she knelt down to pick it up, realizing it was a medicine bottle, though the label had been peeled off. A furrow formed on her brow as she examined it, but her attention was suddenly diverted as she looked up.
Her expression shifted from confusion to sheer dread as she took in the scene before her, her face instantly dropping at what lay beyond.
A/N: Now I'm going to do what glee should have done and just end this now that Finn isn't ever going to be mentioned again. What's the point of continuing a show or story if the Finn Hudson isn't mentioned. (I ran out of ideas for this story but there's one in the process of being made.)
