As Brittany stuffed her belongings into the back of Burt's car, Kurt lent her a hand, his brow furrowed in concern. "Why are you moving out of your dorm?" he inquired gently.
Brittany sighed, pausing for a moment to meet Kurt's gaze. "The dorms are for Carmel students, so since I'm not one anymore, I have to go back to living with my parents," she explained, her tone tinged with resignation.
Kurt looked at her sympathetically, realizing the implications of her decision. "What are you going to do about your dad?" he asked softly.
Brittany shrugged, a hint of uncertainty in her expression. "I don't know, but it might not be a problem anymore," she admitted.
Kurt's frown deepened. "Why not?" he pressed for more information.
A small smile tugged at the corners of Brittany's lips. "My mom said she's divorcing him," she revealed, her voice tinged with relief.
Kurt gasped in surprise. "When did she say that?" he exclaimed.
Brittany's smile widened into a grin. "When she came to see me after he disowned me. She told me when she was in my dorm room," she recalled.
Kurt couldn't contain his excitement, jumping up and down with joy. "That's amazing!" he exclaimed.
Brittany's eyes sparkled with happiness. "I know, right?" she agreed wholeheartedly, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.
As Burt pulled up in front of Brittany's parents' house, he glanced at her before she could step out of the car. "If there's anything wrong, you know you can always come to my house," he reassured her with a warm smile.
Brittany returned the smile gratefully, feeling a surge of appreciation for Burt's kindness. But before she could respond, Kurt's groan from the back seat interrupted their moment.
"Why does she get this treatment?" Kurt whined, his frown deepening as he directed his frustration towards Brittany.
Burt raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "What treatment?" he asked, feigning innocence.
Kurt rolled his eyes, clearly not amused. "She's sitting in the front seat when I'm your son!" he exclaimed, feeling slighted by the perceived favoritism.
Burt chuckled loudly. "Come on, we need to bring all her stuff into the house," he said, gently steering the conversation back to the task at hand.
Kurt huffed in annoyance but begrudgingly got out of the car, his irritation evident in every step as he followed Burt and Brittany towards the house.
Kurt stood on the porch, anticipation building as he knocked on the door of Brittany's parents' house. A few tense seconds passed by before the door swung open, revealing Brittany's sister, Sarah. Without hesitation, Sarah's arms wrapped around Brittany, pulling her into a tight embrace.
Brittany's face lit up with a wide smile as she returned the hug, feeling the warmth of her sister's embrace. "Sarah!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with joy.
Sarah screeched Brittany's name loudly, her excitement matching Brittany's. Brittany tightened her hold on Sarah and slowly guided her back into the house, sharing in her sister's enthusiasm.
Watching the heartwarming reunion unfold, Burt nudged Kurt, who stood beside him, with a sense of awe. "What?" Kurt whispered, his hand instinctively placed over his heart, moved by the scene before him. "This is something straight out of a movie."
Burt grunted, his expression softening as he observed the sisters' bond. "Whatever, just get the stuff and bring it in," he instructed, trying to redirect Kurt's attention to the task at hand.
