Siren's Curse

Chapter 9

Bryan's POV

I had started to separate my responsibilities since my friends had to relocate, but it became a bit more difficult recently because I was worried about Inpu.

Usually I wouldn't worry, but it worried me that he nearly drowned, so I'd often spend more time with him over my friends.

They each understood, but it was clear it wasn't helping the fact we only had around five months left.

All I was really doing at home was watching Inpu when his parents were at work and his sibling was at school, which ended up being the two of us reading together or me swimming while he was watching me.

It was clear that despite having only been a few days since he was put on bed rest, something was constantly on his mind.

I was just swimming around, but when he clearly stopped paying attention to his book, I decided to use that to catch him off guard and talk to him.

"Whatcha thinking about"

"I'm not even going to try and hide it, I want to marry you"

He ended up catching me off guard, so I just blushed before I could think of a response.

"What?"

"I want you and I to get married, we're a perfect match, and with me nearly drowning recently, being able to breath under water would be a good thing to have"

"Well, I wouldn't say no, but assuming you still want to have a ceremony, won't we need to wait?"

"Then we get married to siren standards while we plan the actual wedding, we'll still be married, but can wait for my normal"

"We can't do every part in one day, a siren court still needs to happen"

"Then how much time do you need?"

"Enough time to find a good spot, and once the court is done, you need at least 3 days to get my venom through your body"

"Then I give you the time to do it, I don't want to loose you and I know you feel the same way"

"Alright, then as long as I can find a close spot that would work, we can probably get it done by the end of the week"

I just got out of the water and we cuddled for a while until Magnus came home, so I went to the grotto to check on my friends.

River was the only one present because the others went to get fish, so while I was looking in the water, River was just watching me.

"So, you plan on courting him soon?"

"Yeah, so what?"

"Didn't think you'd be so willing to do it so soon, you've only been here for what, two months?"

"You courted Elio a week after meeting in case you've forgotten"

"Hey, had you not introduced me to him, I wouldn't be as happy as I am"

"Any plans for your wedding?"

"Just a long swim around our spot, as much as I want to do something nice, there aren't enough things to make a canopy though"

"Yeah, there just isn't enough seaweed or kelp, which is why I just hide in coral when I'm at home"

"Anyways, what kind of space are you looking for?"

"Something open where I can easily release him and he can get air, or somewhere closed where I can make an air bubble and we don't really need to hold ourselves under"

"Have you found the air bubble at the bottom yet?"

"Yes, I think I found a spot down there, but that's my backup plan if I can't find anything"

"How long do you plan on dating before getting married?"

"Where do you come up with these ideas, I didn't ask anything like this when you told me Elio asked you to marry him"

"My dad also hated him and tried to sell me to get married to you, only for you to run away and then he allowed your mom to kick me and him from the pod because we knew you"

"Aren't our parents just gems?"

"Don't even make jokes like that"

"Oh come on, you know I only mess around with you because you can take it"

"Well, since we are on the topic of matches, Cal and Ashara, have you found matches for them yet?"

"I've found a good one for Cal, Ashara is a harder one, but Inpu keeps bringing up a classmate who seems self centered and just needs someone, so he may be a good fit, but I haven't met the guy yet, so I got nothing"

"You know they both wont easily realize their matches, how long did it take you with yours?"

"More time than I'd like to admit because I didn't have much courting behavior until I decided to randomly collect rocks"

"To be fair, your mother never taught you what to look for because she never wanted you to be the one to find your match, she wanted to control both you and him"

"Ain't that the truth, I just can't wait to finally get our own pod mark, then we won't have to deal with her again"

"Speaking of future pod, with you being king, what are your plans on kids?"

"Currently, none, it would be nice to have kids in the future, but its not a thought right now"

"Does he even know yet?"

"Why would I tell him about siren eggs?"

"Because shouldn't he know about the fact a siren only needs a male partner for children to be born"

"I will one day, no time soon though, I'll tell him when you or Elio end up with siren eggs"

"Here's the question, which one of us will do which part?"

"You both do it once knowing the two of you"

"Wow, never thought you'd be that serious when talking about this stuff"

"Because this could be my future eventually, I don't want to not have this stuff on my mind, but at the same time, I'm not ready for most of this stuff to be brought up right now"

"So you're stressed"

"I guess, we don't want to move fast, but right now we don't have a choice because of my mother's agreement with us plus his worries"

"Ok, calm down, the two of you are perfect for each other, literally, so calm down, and enjoy your life with him, you'll enjoy it"

River ended up helping me clam down while I continued to swim around.

Once the moon began to come out, the rest of my friends came back, so we all ate then I went home.
