Inpu's POV
It was any other Sunday, fishing was slow, I feel bored out of my mind, and I have no where to go to distract myself.
Normally I could talk to Bryan when I got bored, but he was at home today because my mom needed an extra hand with something and Magnus was stuck helping my father at his shop.
A few people decided to dive to grab a few things at the bottom of the ocean, so I just watched the part of the water they were swimming in.
After a while, everyone came back up with a bunch of nice looking rocks and gems, but none of them knew what any of them would be worth, so they went to me.
Not knowing myself what they would be worth, they decided to ask me, but I could barely tell.
A few of them kept pressuring me, trying to convince me to let them ask Bryan, but I was hesitant to let them.
The people who kept asking me to let them talk were people who were well known on the ship for killing sirens from a distance, so I really didn't want to introduce them to my fiancée even though I'd be present.
I wasn't budging, so when we got to the dock, I thought they'd give it up, but when Bryan met me at the dock, I was very wrong.
Before I could even get to him, they were already in his face.
He was distracted before they went over, so it was more shock and fear I saw on his face.
As soon as I noticed one of them grabbed his arm when he tried to back up, I hit one of them in the back of the head.
"Look, man, I have no problem with asking him NICELY to help you, but the second you put your hands on him is when I get involved" [Inpu]
"Oh, come on, Inpu, your little beauty isn't in any trouble with us, we just need him to figure this stuff out fast" [Fisherman 1]
"What exactly am I figuring out?" [Bryan]
"We found some rocks and gems at the bottom, we need you to tell us how much they are worth" [Fisherman 2]
"That's not exactly how it works, I'd need at least a day to determine the worth of each rock and gem, and even then, most gems and rocks at the bottom of the ocean isn't worth much unless its completely refined" [Bryan]
"Meaning they likely aren't even worth a damn?" [Fisherman 1]
"Most likely" [Bryan]
Both of them just scoffed, handed me the bag of rocks and gems they had before saying they didn't want them if they were worthless, then left.
I just looked at Bryan confused before we just laughed it off and went home.
Once we got back, Bryan took the gems and decided to check them anyways to at least add to his random gem collection.
All I decided to do was read while sitting next to the tank and would take small breaks to watch him admire what he was finding.
"Anything interesting?"
"There are a few pearls that are worth a good amount, and to think if those fools had waited, it would be all theirs"
"Yup, they may be known for killing sirens, but they don't have much education, I believe it was 8th grade my father said they dropped out of school"
"Damn, I was poorly homeschooled and still have a better education than them"
"Have you found anything you'd like to wear for the dance at my school, I know you want to find something nice, I just wanted to get an idea so I could get you something"
"Actually, that's what your mother needed me for today, she wanted to help me get a few things so I could surprise you, so I almost have everything I need, I just need to finish one detail"
"So every time my mom has taken you to help her with something, she's actually helping you get stuff in secret?"
"Pretty much, mostly because she wanted to help me get custom stuff"
"Well, I can't wait to see what you have, I'm guessing you just have jewelry left?"
"Exactly, I almost have both of our accessories done, I think some of the gems in here were the last ones I needed"
"What are you expecting to make?"
"Random accessories to either clip on our clothes or just wear as an extra, but I'm also making our rings"
"Oh? How come?"
"Its tradition for one siren to make the rings for a match, so they will be for the day we are able to get married"
"Speaking of our wedding, for your traditions at least, once I get my mark, how quickly do you want to get married?"
"We could do the same night, I just want to get it done fast, that way I don't need to worry about anything"
"That seems fair, I'd be fine with doing it the same day, I just hope it happens soon, I really just want to be yours"
"And what happens once we get married, don't we need to get somewhere else to live?"
"We probably should, but I need to finish school first, my father said he has something planned, I just don't know what yet"
"Interesting, I'm more confused about what happens to me cause I still need to constantly be near water"
"Worst case, for a few days you stay in the grotto while I have a few people work on a tank for you"
"Yeah, its not a bad idea, I just hope it doesn't have to happen because it would be mostly unnecessary"
"True, either way, I can't wait to be able to spend my life with you"
He just let out a small laugh before Helios started to circle him.
Bryan started to swim near the bottom of his tank where his small cave was.
I started to watch the water, waiting for him to emerge, before Helios went over to where I was and directed me to the top of the tank.
Once I got to the top of the tank, Bryan came up holding something in his hands.
"What's this?"
"A crown made of stuff I've found underwater, I didn't want my king to be without his crown"
"So if I'm your king, what does that make you in regards to your pod?"
"The queen~"
"That tracks, but still, are you sure I'll be a good king for your pod?"
"I know you will be, destiny wouldn't match me with you if you weren't"
"Can you hold onto it for me for a bit longer? I don't want to wear it before I'm actually king of your pod"
He just nodded before we started to talk about random things.
Eventually, I needed to get ready for bed, so I gave Bryan a final kiss for the night before I went to bed.
