Siren's Curse

Chapter 10

Bryan's POV

After searching for a few days, I finally found a spot in the water that was far enough from the grotto to be private, but close enough Inpu wouldn't have any issues swimming over.

He had no idea where we were going, I just told him to follow me, which he did without an issue.

Since we were the only ones at the house when we left, no one would come looking for us because we were likely together, which made it easy because we didn't need to explain anything.

Once we got to the water, I began swimming not far from the shore so I could guide Inpu to where we needed to go.

"Alright, anything I should know other than I'll feel like I'm drowning?"

"You'll have an air bubble until we get to the spot, oh and that the venom may hurt a bit if I end up biting"

"Biting? Is it normal to be bitten or is it just so I take in more of your venom?"

"If I feel like its taking too long, or if you start struggling to the point its dangerous, I have to for your safety, otherwise I won't need to"

"Can I wear your fang marks to mess with people?"

"Go ahead, I can even prove I used venom on you if you want"

"Oh it'll be fun with you"

I just gave a proud smile before going under and putting an air bubble around Inpu's head.

We continued to swim to a coral cave that was always well lit purely by sun reflections.

Once we got there, I started to swim around while Inpu started to check out the area.

I got to a small cave not long after and began to watch Inpu.

He noticed me looking at him eventually, and I just moved my hand so he'd come over to me.

Not long after I called him over to me, I put my hand near his neck, which told him to start holding his breath.

The air bubble popped and I wrapped my tail around Inpu so he couldn't move.

My fangs came out followed by my venom which caused Inpu to start squirming from instinct.

After a minute, I realized I'd have to bite because otherwise he'd drown, so I started to try and softly bite to not cause any pain from the water and venom, but it didn't work.

Once Inpu took in enough venom, I quickly swam him to the top so he could get some air.

He took a good amount of time to breath before we started to swim back to the shore.

"Alright, that hurt a lot more than I thought it would"

"Sorry, I would've avoided biting if I could, but you didn't inhale enough in a minute, so I knew I had to"

"You have healing abilities, right? Think you'd be able to heal it?"

"While I do have healing powers, a siren court bite isn't something I can heal"

"Then how long will I have pain in my neck"

"At least a week, my venom needs to start resonating in your system and on top of that, a new pod mark needs to show up on both of us, so you'll feel at least a sting for the next week"

"Can you at least make it less red?"

"Give it a day, it only looks that bad now because some of your blood seeped out"

"You talking about this stuff calmly freaks me out"

"Meh, there are worse things I can explain calmly, I could easily tell you the process of how a siren kills a person"

"I'm good, you can tell me about it if you ever need to kill someone"

"I honestly hope I don't have to"

"May I ask why? I know its not exactly right, but you're a creature known for their kills, so I'm a bit curious"

"Sirens don't kill the way most people think they do, the luring and poison is accurate, but its more than that"

"Oh?"

"Once a victim is in the water and poisoned, sirens often hold them down and remove certain body parts, it varies between sirens, but often its private parts and arms, then start eating the victim alive, the once they die, the parts that were ripped off are  brought back to pods and saved for meals"

"What do those parts have that seem appetizing? I feel disgusted just hearing about it"

"They'd be brought in by low level sirens for the higher ranks, I don't know how they taste because it seems disgusting to me, so no idea there, but apparently its a high ranking dish"

"Bleh, I'm glad you don't kill people, because having that knowledge would have left you in the bay a lot earlier"

"How do you think I feel, they are usually served in a way they didn't seem like body parts, but just the knowledge of what they were was another turn off for me, I'm just glad my taste never came in"

"So is the taste genetic of gained?"

"Gained, usually as kids we're fed purely fish before slowly getting introduced to human meat, but no matter how hard my mother tried, my taste never came in"

"Aw, my pure little siren"

"Shut up, you may be taller but I have way more skills than you"

"Oh yeah? Like what?"

"I know many ways to kill someone, I'm great at fishing, I can talk with fish, I can sing, I can dance-"

"Alright, alright, I get it, do you want to start going home?"

"Yeah, we probably should so we can come up with a good reason you have a bite mark from me"

"Eh, that's an easy excuse, we were swimming, you missed a fish and got me"

"I don't swim sideways though"

"That's not how I normally see you swim in the tank"

 "I'm not going to swim like that outside, its not at all practical unless I'm being chased"

"You need to learn sarcasm, I know its not practical outside but my family wont know the difference, the don't watch your actions as close as I do and won't be able to tell a difference"

"That sounds creepy the way you said that"

"Oh, shut up, just get out of the water so we can go home"

I decided to be silly and refused to get out of the water, so Inpu just walked over to me and picked me up.

He caught me off guard, so I shifted into my human form and didn't even try to struggle as he walked me home.
