Chapter 10: First Day as Partners ( Part 1 )

It was a quiet drive to the store, neither Vi or Mitch said anything to each other. There was a slight bump under Vi's uniform where the patch on the bite wound is on. Strawberry was currently sitting on Vi's lap as Mitch was driving. It's when they got to the store and got out of the van when Vi finally breaks the silence.

Vi: ( to Mitch, while holding Strawberry with one arm: ) You know... You're not fooling anyone with the whole " I'm the best tech here " act, right?

Mitch looked at the combat specialist with a dumbfounded look and a glare.

Mitch: Excuse me?

Vi: I mean, sure, you got some fancy little upgrades and you know how to lead the team as a leader, but... ( With a teasing smile : ) Meh. I just see a tech that treats his equipment like little toys like a child and pretends like he knows what he's doing.

Strawberry giggles in response as Vi walked away from Mitch, leaving Mitch in shock and with an embarrassed blush on his face.

Mitch: A child?!

Vi just calmly walked into the store and into headquarters while holding Strawberry cradling with one arm.

Vi: ( whispers, to Strawberry with a calm smile: ) And like it or not, he's sorta cute when he's frustrated. ( Chuckles ) And sense I can't get him to take my lessons during the training sessions more seriously, I might as well as have a little fun-

Vi was then suddenly tackled into a hug by Miko and Five when she got into headquarters, Vi silently hissed in pain and looked at the two techs in confusion while Strawberry wagged her tail happily. Mitch walked into headquarters and was ready to say something in response to her statement, but he changed his mind when he saw how confused the combat specialist was as Five and Miko were hugging her.

Five: Thank goodness you are alright, Vi! You kinda scared all of us to death!

Vi: Then why are you two trying to crush me?!

Five and Miko then released the combat specialist and her small companion pet, and Vi quickly took a few steps back from the two, and looked at them and the rest of the Bailey techs in confusion as they were all giving her somewhat concerned looks while Mitch looked at her with a raised brow. Strawberry just cutely rubbed her face with her front paws like a bunny.

Vi: What? Why are you looking at me like that?

Five: Have you never been given a hug before?

Vi: ( with a confused expression: ) Explain to me as to what a " hug " is...

The techs looked at Vi in complete shock at her response to Five's question.

Five: A hug is a sign of affection-

Miko: And how do you not know what a hug is with a dad and nine older siblings.

Vi: When did I ever mention that my father or my siblings were the affectionate type? The closest thing to affection I ever got from them was them leaving me the heck alone.

There was a long moment of silence out of shock...

Haneesh: Okay, that's just sad on another level.

Vi: ( isn't fazed by it: ) Uh-huh, sure. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to grab a few things from my locker before going out on morning patrol with Mitch, ( jokingly: ) one of those things is a pair of sunglasses so I don't get blinded by his massive ego.

Mitch glared at Vi in response to her statement while the other techs held themselves from laughing, and Vi just playfully sticks her tongue out at Mitch before walking off.

Mitch: Ugh! That girl is going to be on my nerves. Why did Phil choose me to watch her again?

Phil: ( is standing by BITT's desk, and was there the whole time: ) Because you two have more in common than you think.

Mitch turned his head to his boss with confusion and his arms crossed.

Mitch: Really? How?

Phil: You both take your jobs why too seriously, you both have skills and tactics that give you opportunities to do high-level challenges except her's are a much higher level and more dangerous than yours, you both spend the majority of your time focused on the job, she offers tips and tricks to her teammates like how you used to do, and... Should I continue...?

Mitch and the rest of the team stood there in shock to the similarities between Mitch and the combat specialist.

Phil: Oh, and you refuse to discuss your past while she rarely mentions her's. Again, should I continue?

Five: Uh, no, I think we get it, Phil. And wow.

Vi then reappears on the balcony above Phil and her coworkers with Strawberry cradled in her uninjured arm while holding a pair of sunglasses in the other.

Vi: Come on, Mitch. Let's Move.

Phil: ( with a smile: ) And let's not forget about catchphrases...

Vi raised her brow at Phil before she shrugged it off and puts on the sunglasses.

Vi: (jokingly: ) You got two minutes, Mitch, or I'll be spraying painting your van purple.

Mitch: NO YOU WILL NOT!

Vi just calmly opened a portal and left the headquarters with Strawberry.
