Bond Fire and Beer

After Becky got a plate we found seats around the mini fire ring. It didn't take long for Becky to start asking questions. It was quite comical and also understandable. I didn't really mind, but I could tell B wasn't amused.

So what is it you do now Harper? Are you a teacher like Jozie? Becky asked. No no no, nope not me. I couldn't handle that job. I'm a dental assistant. I know I would have to give my usual speal when Kolby says oh you clean peoples teeth all day.

No that's not what she does all day ding battle B says all huffy and hateful. well then please explain Mr Dentist expert Kolby snaps back. How bout you both hush and the person I asked can answer me Becky scolds with that I mean it look mothers get when they've had enough.

Trying my best to stifle a laugh I answer; I help the doctor work on people all day. I set up, taer down, and sterilize instruments all day.
My answer causes B to give Kolby the classic ha I told you so look.

So your job could take you anywhere Becky says with a hint of insinuation. Mother stop right there! B warns as sternly but politely as possible. I didn't mean anything by it dear it was a simple observation She defends sweetly.

Thankfully, before the conversation could get any more tense, Justin and Thomas decide its time for some entertainment and herd B and Kolby to the big fire out in the yard. We'll bring them back in a bit Ms. Becky Justin promises tipping his hat before they leave us.

Turning to face Becky I was going to ask her if she wanted a drink but she beat me to it. I think it's time for some stronger beverages. Sounds like a plan to me I answer. I'll get us some daquries if you get us a good spot for the show I tell her. Honey I'm the mother of the star I got us covered she laughs.

Walking back in the house I see Jozie already pouring the first round. Make that three I tell her from the door way. Ms Becky wants one too. And make it snappy bar keep. The boys are about to start singing.

Yes ma'ma Jozie tells me with a mocking salute. As she's pouring I can tell she wasn't to say or ask me something. Oh just ask already its written all over your face I tell her as I taste my drink.

What do you think so far? She finally asks looking like a little kid scared they will be scolded. Think about what? I answering knowing good and well what she means. Oh I don't know Jozie snips sarcastically maybe your favorite country music start who's home we will be staying in for the next 10 days! Better yet the fact that he obviously likes you!

Now that you've brought it up, what all did Justin tell B about me? I ask trying hard not to let my nervousness show.

How bout we have this conversation tonight or later this week when we have more time to talk in alone. Its all good but and pretty funny. But I know ya wouldn't want random people hearing us and B would B upset with me Jozie tells me just as Luke walks in the kitchen.

B and Dupree sent me to fetch you two. The fun is about to start. And Ms Becky said hurry up with that drink. Poor woman is about to die of thirst. Luke takes the extra drink from my hand and escorts us back to the festivities just as the guys start to sing small town throw down.

From that point until around 2 a.m. the yard was packed and the guys took turns singing some of their hits. Ms Becky and I even played a game of corn hole before Kolby took her home around midnight. She made me promise to keep her boys out of trouble before she left. I told her I would try my best. She seams to think B would do anything I ask. Personaly I think she crazy since I've only known him less than 24 hours. Although it does feel like I've known him as long as I've known Jozie and Justin. Maybe that's because him and Justin are a lot a like.
