The Second Trip to Town

We don't even make it to 129 before my phone is ringing. The generic tone tells me it's a number I've not saved. After showing the screen to Jozie she tells me that it's Brantley number. We both laugh as I answer. And just how can I help you Mr Gilbert? I ask making sure he can hear me shift gears.

Start by giving the phone to Jozie so she can put me on speaker. He all but commands. Now slow the hell down and be easy with my baby!

Before Brantley can say any more Jozie shows me a text from Justin: B is about to have a panic attack. Just dawned on him Harper is the first female to ever drive his truck !!!!! He got pale when I reminded him she has a lead foot. :)

After reading the text I couldn't resist. I had to make the engine rev. That just makes B yell more. Harper Ann what did I just tell you? Back it down of you'll never drive my baby again! Hell I'm half tempted to come rescue her. The poor boy sounds like he could almost cry.

B? I try to speak calmly and it's harder than hell not to laugh. Go take the jeep for a spin through the mud; hell look under the hood and tell me I don't take care of him. That should reassure you I won't hurt your baby.

He sighs and finally somewhat calms down. Fine but don't piddle around to long please. He pleads with me. And be safe ladies.

With that B ends the call leaving Jozie and I to laugh our assessment off as we pull into the parking lot for another mini shopping trip.

Here's the game plane I tell Jozie as we enter the store. You get the macaroni noodles, two cans of sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and minced garlic. I'll go find the cream, and six different cheeses and meet you back here in 10. With that we go our separate ways.

As I walk to the front of the store I get a text from Justin:
Dupree: I wish you could have seen him
Me: that bad?
Dupree: I thought he was going to walk ruts in the gravel part of the drive way!
Me: did he calm down after he looked under the hood?
Dupree: a bit. Just get back here soon
Me: Sooooo Jozie told me you and B played 20 questions and I was the topic. Where you ever gonna fill me in ?
Dupree: don't be mad. I had to give him a fighting chance. Couldn't let him go in blindly on the first round.
Me: how am I doing so far? And don't sugar coat it.
Dupree: good until now. It will ne fine once you're back.
Me: what did he ask. Better yet what did you say. (The thought makes me panic)
Dupree: basics. Likes, dislikes, hobbies, what you do for a living, if you're high maintenance or drama queen. He liked it when you went off on me bout the poles cuz it proved you wouldn't take anyone's shit.
