" 'Ferris' Alstan began, 'Our paths have crossed only in battle. But today I stand before you seeking an ally." Sonic reads the book to Tails. "Sonic, you're getting all swoony again." Tails looks at Sonic and points his finger at him. Sonic sighs and looks at Tails. "I can't help it. Ferris is able to befriend everyone, even his biggest rival. I wish I had that kind of power." "Rivals are meant to be annihilated, not befriended. Now keep reading." Tails smiles at Sonic and swings his tails. "I've been sucked into your awful fandom." "Okay. Suddenly the door swung open." And suddenly the door of the freak house swungs open. "The book has come to life! Burn it!" Sonic walks to the door and there's a basket in the ground.
"Knuckels, you got a package. It looks like a gift basket." "Probably an offering. Ah, being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks." Tails lifts the cloth from the top of the basket and there's a little bat? "Mmm, fresh meat." Tails rubs his hands. "No, not eating that." Sonic walks away from the table. "Witches eating babies is so 1693. What is this?" Knuckels looks at Tails who's standing in the table next to the basket. "There's a note. 'Take care of my child 'til morning, Yi Yi'?" "Nope, babies are awful. Not happening." " 'You'll be handsomely rewarded. Xoxoxox the Bat Queen'." "Wait, Bat Queen? Reward?" "Who's the Bat Queen?"
Sonic walks back to the table. "She's the wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles. Get in with her and you're set for life. So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid." Knuckels laughs and looks at the baby bat. "Easy." "Our greatest adventure yet. Learning about love and life through a child's eyes." "Not you, Sonic. You have to return the books I checked out from the library." Knuckels magics the books with his finger to Sonic's hands and he walks to the back door. Knuckels whispers to Tails. "I don't want him getting a cut of the loot." "Good thinking." "Now let's take a look at his little darling." Knuckels graps the whole cloth of the basket and suddenly the baby starts screaming. "Oh boy! One second thought, maybe we could use your help!" Knuckels yells to Sonic. "Sorry I can't hear you! I better get to the library! Got to go! Byee!" Sonic slams the door shut and Knuckels looks at Tails. "We got this, right?"
Sonic gets to the library and when he goes inside the librarian takes the books. "Late, late, late. Coffee, grass and bloodstains. These are Knuckels', aren't they?" "Heh, that was a crazy night." "Ugh, I'll put them on his tab. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower." "Ooh, what's that?" "You're in a library. Read a book." "I am in a library. I will read a book!" Sonic runs away. "Shh!"

Sonic smiles and takes a candy from his pocket and gives it one of the demon things. Sonic walks around and looks everywhere.
"This place is amazing!" "What do you think you're doing?" Sonic hears a voice and panics. "Ah! I've been caught! Pretend to be a book." He hears kids' laughing. "Wait.." " 'We're your friends and we wanna help'. Said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. 'I've never had real friends before'." Sonic walks to a door and he sees, Shadow? "Shadow reading to kids?" He sneaks closer behind to a shelf. " 'Then we'll be your first'. The chiken witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So bookmaker Otabin, surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship, and that's the end." Shadow closes the book in his hands and all the kids are cheering. "Shadow looks so nice, and smiley." Sonic smiles and gasps. "Maybe I can befriend her like Ferris befriended his rival!" Sonic gasps again and goes down behind the shelf when the kids are leaving and Shadow walks next to the shelf. "Thank you so much." "Goodbye." A kid hugs Shadow. "Goodbye, Shadow. Thank you." "Thank you, Braxas. See you next time."
