3rd person PoV:
The next day, after physics, civics, and Japanese, with some of the nicest teachers, it was maths with the scariest teacher in the whole school, namely Genya's brother, Shinazugawa-sensei
He was the most known for the "Smash Bros" incident, where he threw a student out of the classroom wondow for saying something like the maths he taught wouldn't be useful in real life. Because of that, everyone was scared of him, but there were rumors of his supposed crush on Ms Kocho, the biology teacher, and when he talked to her, his entire face changed completely. Ms. Kocho just brings out the best in everyone, and Mr. Shinazugawa is not an exception.
At the break before the lesson, the classroom was buzzing with the voices of 30 or so teenagers blending together while they were eagerly trying to voice their opinion on the sensei who was absent the day before to their respective friends. Y/N, meanwhile, felt uncomfortable with the notion of being taught by a teacher who had such a bad reputation among the student body. And, of course, being her closest companion for more than a decade, Muichiro noticed it.
Y/N PoV:
I must have looked really uncomfortable as a familiar voice snapped me out of my thoughts about our maths teacher and the reaction of my classmates to just the notion that he would be the one teaching us for the rest of our lives in high school.
"Y/N? Are you okay? You look like you're about to throw up."
"I'm totally fineee"
"You nervous about the maths teacher?"
"Maybe..."
"You'll be fine! You're the smartest and youngest kid in the whole class, and this is the smartest class in the whole year! I'm sure Mr. Shinazugawa will be fine with you!" (A/N: idk why I made Mui sound like a girl bestie of mine 💀)
"Ok..."
I wasn't scared of being smart enough, I was scared because of the teacher's reputation... A reputation as the scariest teacher in the whole school isn't going to help me loosen up, you know.
I was known as the smartest kid in the year, with Muichiro being a close second and Yuichiro a close third since I started school and I even skipped a year of school along with the twins because of our intelligence. We used to get bullied a lot for it because people were jealous of us and just ganged up to pick on us, often resulting in bruises all over our bodies. I even had a pin stuck in my right eye once, leading to partial blindness in that eye, which even changed colour from its original dark blue to a violet colour similar to the ends of my hair.
While I was stuck in my thoughts, the bell rang, signaling the end of recess and startling me out of my trance-like state as I nearly jumped out of my skin due to the high frequency which nearly burst my eardrums. Bloody thing must have made Mr Rengoku deaf. That explains why he's always so loud.
Just then, the weirdest-looking guy I've ever seen stomped onto the classroom. He had scars all over him and a crazed expression with countless crimson capillaries covering his eyeballs, making it look like his eyeballs were about to pop out of their spckets. For some reason, unknown to me, he had the top of his shirt unbuttoned. His eyebrows were also missing, giving him a permanently surprised expression.
"Alright, class! Break is over! Go back to your seats and sit down, or it's detention!" The teacher boomed.
As everyone shuffled reluctantly back to their desks, grumbling in the process, his voice rang out again.
"I am Mr Shinazugawa, and I'll be teaching you maths! If you don't like maths, get out right this second!"
Whoa, this guy was seriously out of his mind. Telling kids to get out if they don't like his subject? Way to make people hate you... But of course, no one dared to walk out of the classroom out of their fear of the teacher.
He then started to distribute textbooks and exercise books while Muichiro and I exchanged looks and tried not to laugh at the tense situation. Then, suddenly, a certain pink-haired girl let out the tiniest giggle (for those who haven't watched Spy X Family, Anya can read minds).
Then, several things happened at once. A textbook flew across the room with a great whoosh and hit Anya on the head as Mr Shinazugawa came to our desks and glared at us while slamming down a few more books onto our desks, his arms moving so fast that they were a blur.
What in the actual f- This guy might actually live up to his bad reputation...
After the teacher went to some other students' desks, Muichiro and I exchanged another look and started whispering.
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe he literally just threw a whole ass 300-page book at poor Anya!" "D'you think she's okay?" "She looks like she's in shock..."
"OI, YOU TWO! STOP TALKING! TOMIOKA, SWAP SEATS WITH PINK HAIR OVER THERE!"
What
And so I switched seats with Anya, who was still nursing a bruised head. How Mr Shinazugawa knew my name, I'm not sure. Maybe it's because I look like my brother? Mr Shinazugawa is really strict about people being quiet in his lessons, which means that all his lessons are veryyyy boring.
A/N: Heyyy guysss this book has 100+ reads now! Thanks so much for the support and votes! Hope you liked this chapter and the little backstory I snuck in there! The next chapter might come out a bit late since I have English coursework on Macbeth to do. Anyways, be safe and healthy, and you'll hear from me on a bit!
