My eyes pop open to the sound of gasping, wheezing. I shoot up, looking over to see a dark figure standing over Jeonghan. A pillow is in his hands, and he's pressing it directly over Jeonghan's face. He thrashes from side to side, attempting to get him off of him, but it's useless with the hold he has over his face.
Fuck no.
I leap up from the couch, lunging onto the ground where he must have fallen. The man sees me a second too late, his body freezing as I crash my body against his. The pillow flies off Jeonghan's face, and he inhales, gasping as he sits up, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"You okay?" I growl, turning back to the man. He shakes his head from side to side, gaining his bearings as he turns toward me. He has a ski mask on his face, and I bring my fist back, crashing it straight into his cheek. He falls onto his back, and I climb on top of him, grabbing the top of his mask and tearing it from his head.
My eyes narrow when I see one of my dad's longtime workers watching me in a mixture of fear and anger. A large red mark paints his cheek, and I bring my fist back, powering it forward as I smash my knuckles into his other one. He lets out a groan, bringing his knees up as he attempts to kick me, shove me, fight me off in any way possible.
"Motherfucker. I'll fucking kill you," I growl.
"Seungcheol," Jeonghan cries.
I look over my shoulder, seeing him sitting there, fear in his eyes as he clutches his chest in terror.
Anger roars through my body, and I turn back to the man, my bones vibrating with rage. "You're fucking dead," I snap, and my entire body explodes. I pummel him with my fists, hitting his face over and over again. The only sounds which can be heard are the sounds of my knuckles hitting his bones. My fingers drip with red, and I grab onto each side of his head, swinging up and slamming the back of his skull against the wood floor.
Again and again I pound his head into the ground until he's nothing but mush. Until he's no longer fighting, but limp beneath me, and a pool of blood surrounds us.
"Seungcheol, he's dead," Jeonghan chokes from behind me.
I take a breath, my tense fingers releasing his head. Whatever is left of it drops with a plop, a mushy slap against the ground. Blood is in every direction I look, and I lean back, my hands planting into the puddle of blood on the floor as I move off him.
"Holy shit," Jeonghan whispers, crawling over to me. I turn to him, seeing his wide eyes, his flushed cheeks. The way he breathes heavily as his eyes flit from the man and back to me.
I turn to the door, seeing it wide open, the night air gusting into the small cabin. The fire I created before bed is nearly extinguished, only a few embers still glowing beneath the logs.
"Who is he?" Jeonghan mumbles.
I stand up, stepping over the dead body and walking toward the door. I shut it, and lock it, noticing how the lock has been manipulated.
How the fuck did I sleep through that?
I grab a couple logs near the front door and set them in the fire. Bloody handprints are left across the surface of the wood.
"He worked for my father," I clip, anger rolling through me.
I told my father to not mess with him. I warned him, and he sent someone after him anyway. He went against my word, but I suppose I knew my father never listens to anyone but himself.
Either way, he came after him when I told him not to. I need to keep Jeonghan safe, even if it means taking out my own blood.
"Wait... what?" he breathes.
