☠︎︎"Trust is what will get you killed."☠︎︎
PERCY'S VOICE POUNDED INSIDE Isabell's mind, the boy had not stopped ranting about how you should tell the people you're going on a quest with that you have fire powers. The girl rubbed her temples as her splitting headache got worse, she suffered from migraines but it had never been as bad as this before.
It was either from the lack of sleep or how stressed out she was. If she were at camp she could rot away in her bed till it left, but no she was too busy trying to keep three kids alive. She also didn't have her sweet Luke to brush his fingers through her hair or to steal her some strawberries and pomegranate juice from the store cupboard.
The boy barely left her side when she was in so much pain, though she didn't express it, he could tell by how her nose would scrunch up if the room was too bright or if something was too loud. He also used her pain as an excuse to sleep in her cabin, if she needed anything he'd be there, he'd always be there.
Isabell huffed in pain as the door to her cabin opened slowly, the outside's bright blades stabbed right through her eyes. She sunk into her dark sheets as if she were a vampire, burning from the light. Luke apologised quickly and softly, closing the door with so much gentleness, that he had a bowl full of fresh strawberries in hand that made the girl smile widely.
"Here you go angel, want anything else?" Luke sat beside Izzy on the bed, rubbing the exposed skin on her hip as she dug into the bowl of perfectly ripe fruit in front of her.
"I'm fine, thank you, Luke," Isabell replied, her focus stuck on eating, but it would shift between that and his touch that made her whole body feel like it was on fire, and not in the normal way.
"Anything for you." He whispered, accidentally letting that thought slip through his mouth.
"Hm?" Izzy turned to him, his voice was too quiet to hear the words that came out, thank the gods for that.
"Can I have one?" Luke let out a sigh of relief that didn't go unnoticed by Izzy, but she let his weird behaviour off for getting her strawberries. She nodded and passed the bowl over to Luke, he didn't enjoy the taste of the fruit. He didn't get why Isabell loved them so much, but he did enjoy the way her face would light up when they were put in front of her.
The two had sat in silence for a while as Izzy finished eating, she couldn't help but feel like she was being a burden, that maybe she made him feel like he had to stay with her because she was lonely. The only friends that Izzy has at camp are Carlos and Luke, both boys are popular in the camp, they have many friends and aren't seen as a monster waiting to attack. But Isabell is, the girl who was cast away as soon as her father's symbol appeared over her head, so why would he waste his time sitting with her?
