Chapter 20: Kensington High
"Wake up, Blair!" Zander banged on my door.
Tossing and turning in bed, I yelled, "FUCK OFF!" and grabbed the nearest pillow, hurling it toward the door just as it swung open. The pillow smacked Zander right in the face.
"OWWWW!" he whined loudly.
I sat up fast and glared. "Zander, shut up for the love of God and everything that is—"
He cut me off, grinning. "Are you seriously saying an old people phrase when you just hit me with your pillow?"
I sighed, then glanced at the alarm clock on my nightstand. At least thirty minutes left to get ready.
"Go get ready!" I yelled, jumping out of bed and running toward him to grab the pillow back.
"Wow, you're gonna help the pillow but not me?" he whined.
I plastered on a fake smile and helped him up, pinching his cheeks. "Awww, I'm so sorry, sissy. Hurt you so bad, you poor thing," I teased, pinching a little harder before shoving him out of my room. He yelled a string of curses behind him.
Once the coast was clear, I rushed to the bathroom and took a cold shower to wake up.
Slipping on my robe, I grabbed my uniform from the closet—still hanging from yesterday when I got back from downtown.
My uniform was pretty slutty, if you asked me: a black skirt that showed off my thighs, black thigh-high stockings, a white crop top, and a loose black-and-red tie. Topped off with a dark red school jacket and black heels they sent me. Definitely a magnet for attention.
I blow-dried my hair, pulled it into a high ponytail with volume, and let my bangs frame my face. A quick swipe of minimal makeup, and I grabbed my backpack and school supplies.
Downstairs, I marched straight to the breakfast table, only to find everyone eating peacefully.
"UM, HELLO!? WE'RE LATE!" I yelled, waving my arms like a lunatic.
They stopped, stared at me, then burst out laughing.
"Dude, we leave in like an hour and a half," Anthony said, chewing bacon.
I zeroed in on Zander, ran over, and jumped on him, knocking him out of his chair.
He screamed like a little girl.
"Piece of shit! Don't ever wake me earlier than needed!" I hissed, clutching his collar.
He raised his hands in surrender. "I'm sorry!" he yelled, squeezing his eyes shut.
I rolled my eyes, grabbed my breakfast plate, and headed back upstairs, knowing I had an important call to make.
Pulling out my work phone, I dialed a number and waited.
After three rings, a beep sounded, followed by a deep voice.
"Boss, how can I help you?"
"Keon, I need you to investigate a woman." I pulled up a picture of my fake mom on my laptop and sent it to him.
"I just sent her photo. Let me know if you find anything on her ID," I said, serious as hell.
"Yes, boss. You'll have something by tonight," he replied before hanging up.
I needed to snoop Vincent's office for any files on the day he met her—or anything odd he might've missed.
I headed down the east wing hallway to his office. Vincent was downstairs eating, and usually, he chatted for fifteen minutes, giving me a window.
