Jacob Perth strutted into the bustling bar, his confidence radiating like a beacon. It was Saturday night, and the air was thick with the promise of excitement, maybe he would take a girl home tonight! His friends trailed behind him, matching his cocky swagger as they scanned the crowded room for potential conquests. He brushed a hand through his ginger hair, his muscles flexing beneath his shirt as he made his way over to her.
Jacob made his way to the bar, his eyes caught sight of a familiar figure, causing his heart to skip a beat. Annabeth Chase, his co-worker and collaborator at the architecture firm, was there, surrounded by a group of women, their laughter mingling with the music.
"Hey, isn't that Annabeth?" Jacob nudged his friend, his gaze fixed on her.
"Yeah, it is. She's looking good tonight," his friend remarked.
Jacob's mind raced with possibilities. He'd harbored a crush on Annabeth for months, but she was notoriously elusive when it came to her personal life. Despite their close work relationship, she kept her cards close to her chest, leaving Jacob to wonder about the mysteries that lay beyond her professional facade.
"Should I go talk to her?" Jacob asked, his confidence wavering slightly.
"Definitely, man. You've been pining after her forever. This could be your chance," his friend encouraged.
Gathering his courage, Jacob approached Annabeth and her friends, a charming grin plastered on his face. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Annabeth Chase and her lovely ladies," he said, his voice dripping with charm.
Annabeth's eyes widened in surprise as she turned to face him. "Jacob? What are you doing here?"
Jacob flashed his trademark grin, his ginger hair catching the warm glow of the bar lights. "Just thought I'd drop by and say hello to my favourite co-worker," he replied, his voice dripping with charm.
Annabeth's friends exchanged knowing glances, suppressing smiles as they watched the interaction unfold. "Well, isn't this a surprise," Annabeth said, gesturing to her friends. "Jacob, meet my camp buddies." Her friends eyed him curiously. "Jacob works with me at the architecture firm," she explained.
Jacob nodded, his eyes wandering over the group of women standing beside Annabeth. They looked like they had just come from tug of war or something, their clothes slightly dishevelled and dirty but in a "sexy kinda way", he thought to himself.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all," Jacob said, his tone smooth as he greeted Annabeth's friends.
Jacob offered to buy Annabeth a drink, hoping to seize the opportunity to get to know her better outside of work. She hesitated for a moment, but he pleaded with her, his eagerness shining through.
"Come on, Annabeth, we never hang out outside of work. I'd love to get to know my favorite co-worker better," Jacob said with a hopeful smile.
Annabeth hesitated for a moment, her lips quirking into a small smile. "I suppose one drink wouldn't hurt," she said almost reluctantly, giving Jacob a playful nudge. One of Annabeth's friend, pretty, with dark skin and chocolate-brown hair that was cut choppy and unevenly, and had thin strands braided down on the sides, looked so very amused and whispered to the girl sitting next to her, "Wait and watch, this is going such a funny story"
