"Hey, bestie! Been a long time, how are you?" said a girl from behind.
"Omg!!!.... Nina, when did you come?" Maansi said while squealing with happiness. " Today, don't tell me you forgot your birthday," said Nina.
"Oh yeah, tomorrow is my birthday. Thanks for coming!" Maansi replied.
Nina noticed something was off with Maansi. "What's the matter"
"Huh? What are you talking about? "said Maansi
"Ohh come on I know you are sad about something, tell me," Nina said
A tear dropped from Maansi's eyes. She ended up telling everything to Nina about Shivansh and how they don't talk anymore.
"You are such a fool! If you love him at least tell him!" Nina screamed.
"It's no good, I know he's not interested, we haven't even met each other," Maansi said in a low voice.
"Wait that's it! Why don't you come with me to Mumbai and then you can meet him" said Nina.
"What? You're crazy! I mean what's the point?" Maansi said.
"Maybe if you guys meet in real life, he might fall for you and you guys might end up together," Nina said.
"What are the chances for that? That's too much risk," said Maansi.
"Huh... Listen Maansi, I think love is a beautiful feeling and, it's worth taking a risk for even if we don't get what we want." Nina said.
Nina and Maansi are childhood friends, but Nina moved out and went to Mumbai with her parents 6 years ago. She has visited Chandigarh a few times, but they mostly talked on the phone. Nina coming all of a sudden was a total surprise for Maansi. They laughed and chatted for hours.
"Okay, I have to go now! Tell me if you're ready to go Mumbai, I'll be going the day after tomorrow." Nina said before leaving.
That night Maansi couldn't sleep. She thought about what Nina said the whole night. Maybe she was right, if she loved him she should at least try, but was this love? Who knows if Shiv will be happy to see her or not?
Anyways.
*Next day, at her office*
"Sir, I want to apply for a leave."
"How long and for what?"
"I have to go and visit someone, I just want a 1 month..."
"What? Stop kidding, all I can give is 3 days"
(Seriously, traveling and settling alone will take 3 days)Maansi murmured to herself.
"Please it's important!"
"No, you don't understand, I can't."
In the end, Maansi didn't get the 1-month leave. She came back home and went to celebrate her birthday at a hotel with her family and friends. Maansi asked Nina to stay for the night with her.
"So what did you decide?" Nina asked.
"I am coming" replied Maansi.
"Great! For how long?" Nina asked.
"Permanently," said Maansi.
"What?" Nina was stunned.
"Yeah I have made my decision, I am shifting to Mumbai," said Maansi
"Whh what about your job?" Nina asked
"I'll find another. But I can't come now, I'll have to serve a 1 month's notice period, so I'll come next month," said Maansi
"Girl! That's a huge decision! But I understand, also think it through. Happy birthday again, good night." Nina said.
"Yeah, good night."
Maansi didn't sleep that night too, thinking if she made the right decision or not. Will it be worth losing her job, and moving to a completely new city?
The month passed by in a blur. She even lied to her parents that she got a better job in Mumbai. The day finally came for the flight to Mumbai. She had tickets booked for the plane and she boarded. She knew Nina was coming to the airport to welcome her.
But when she landed and arrived at the airport in Mumbai, she was shocked to the core.
