"What was going on up there?" Jinxx asked when we were downstairs.

"It's a long story. A long story that's about twelve years long." I looked at the ground.

"We have the time," Ashley told me.

I sighed. "Well, it all started when I was about six. My parents... th-they started to hit me. I thought it was all my fault. It went on for years. It started to get better around the time I was thirteen, and I was still depressed. I started to self harm around that time. And the last time I did was about three months ago. I'll bet you everything I have, if I go back to that house... it will be the last time you see me, because I will be dead. I promise you that," I told them.

They all stared at me like I had just shot someone. Jake put his hand on my shoulder. "It's okay. We won't let anyone hurt you."

That's when I heard the car doors slamming outside. Oh no. I thought. It's them.

"One of you go look out the window." CC rose from his seat at the table and ran to look out the window. He turned around, his face a ghostly white.

"Your parents are here with your brother and they look angry. My advice? Run." I threw myself out of the chair I was seated in and ran for the basement.

Andy grabbed my arm and whispered "There is a crawl space under my couch. If you can get down there, you'll be fine." I nodded and sprinted down the stairs.

After reaching the basement of Andy's house, I plowed into the back of Andy's couch. There was a trap door with two holes in the floor of the basement. I grabbed the latch and unlocked the door. Throwing it open, I flung myself down the stairs. Once I got down four or so, I stopped to close the door.

I realized why there were holes in the door. So you could move the couch back over the door. I had it halfway over the door when I heard "Where the hell is my daughter?" My mother was screaming upstairs.

I scrambled to pull the couch over the door. Come on, come on! I thought. I could hear yelling and pounding footsteps coming down the stairs. I felt a push on the couch. I jerked my hand away just as the rays of light were shut out. And I ran as fast as my feet would carry me.
