Christian's p.o.v.

I heard Winter's feet pounding down the stairs. I slowly rose from my seat for a second time and peaked my head out the blinds. Her family was fighting and scrambling to get out of the car. Winter's father smacked her brother across her face. I could see why she left them.

Winter's father made eye contact with me. I dashed back to the table and sat down. The couch downstairs screeched across the floor. I knew she would make it. Suddenly, the front door of the house flew open. Winter's family stormed in angrily. Andy stood up. "Who are you and why are you in my house?" So he had decided to play dumb.

Winter's mother shoved Andy. "Where the hell is my daughter?" she screamed. Andy got in her face, and they started arguing.

'Why do they want her to come home so badly? She's almost eighteen. Maybe it's because of her father... maybe her mother is part of it too,' I thought.

I could hear the couch screeching across the floor. "What the hell ish that?" Winter's father stumbled toward the stairs. He was slurring his words.

'Her father showed up drunk. How nice.' I stepped in front of her father. "You can't go down there," I told him.

"Why not ish my daughter down theere ish shhe hiding?" I started backing down the steps. Winter's father had a look of rage. I turned and ran down the stairs to the basement. I made it to the basement right as Winter's father tripped and rolled down the stairs. He laid at the bottom of the stairs, groaning. I ran, and shoved the couch over the door in the basement floor.

Winter's father slowly rose off of the floor, swearing under his breath. He shot toward me, swinging his fists. I ducked under one of his swings, but another connected with my face. I hit the ground, and it all went black.

Winter's p.o.v.

I had no idea what was going on upstairs while I was running. I was focused on getting into the room below their basement. I was running down the steps toward a dim light coming from the cracks between a door and its frame.

As I hit the last step, I tripped and fell on the door. I steadied my self, and grabbed the handle of the door. I threw it open revealing a room with a bed, bathroom, two chairs, a TV, a refrigerator, and a nicely sized kitchen. There was an apartment under Andy's house. After locking the door, I sat down in one of the chairs and began to relax.

And that's when I heard the popping from upstairs. I knew that popping sound. It was the sound of a gun. I sat cross-legged in the chair, staring at the ceiling, as if I could see through it. I was hoping no one was hurt, or even worse, dead.

Andy's p.o.v.

'This argument is going nowhere,' I thought. 'I'm so done with this.'

I took a step back and held my arms out to put distance between me and this angry woman I had been arguing with for about ten minutes. "Look, I don't know who you are, but I'm done arguing with you. Get out of my house."

"Not until you tell me where my daughter is! Cassidy! Come here this instant!" Winter's mother screamed.

'How can Winter be related to this she-devil?'

"Look, just calm down. I don't know where your daughter is."

"Bullshit!" She screamed. Next thing I knew, she pulled a gun and pointed it at me. I grabbed her wrists and jerked the gun away from me. It fired into the wall. She fought my hands, struggling to gt the gun pointed at me once again. The gun fired again, closer to the floor. I heard a scream and a thud. Ashley had been shot in the leg.

"You little bitch!" I let go of the gun and kicked the back of her knee. She fell with a small crash and a groan. I ran over to Ashley, who was laying on the floor. Jake and Jeremy (Jinxx, for those of you who don't know his real name) were holding the top half of him up. Ashley was staring at his leg, horrified. There was blood everywhere.

"Guys, put him down. Someone go call 911. Someone find CC. Go!" I looked at Ashley. "You better not die on me." There was another bang. Winter's mother was on her feet once again, and had shot Ashley in the shoulder. He screamed. I jumped and tackled Winter's mother, placing my knee on her throat. "Stop it!" I picked up the gun and tossed it across the room.

Jeremy ran back into the room. "Ambulance and police on their way. They should be here soon."

"Good. Go look for CC and Winter's father."

"But, what about her brother?" Jeremy pointed toward the boy sitting in the corner, crying. Winter's mother had passed out from lack of oxygen.

"I'll try to talk to him. Go find CC." Jeremy nodded, and ran down the stairs toward the basement. I looked at Winter's brother. He looked very fragile and scared. "Are you okay?" I asked. The boy nodded. "What have they done to you?" I got up and walked toward the boy. He pulled up his sleeve, revealing purple bruises. Up close now, I realized he was wearing makeup to cover up a black eye. He had a fresh red mark on his face. "We're going to get you help. I am going to make sure they never hit you again." I heard the sirens outside. I helped the boy off of the floor, and sat him down at the table, We waited, hoping everything would be better when the police got to my house and arrested these lunatics.
