Kirstie's POV
I parked in front of the Emergency Room and helped Mitch out of the backseat. His grey pants were soaked with fluid, luckily it was his car and not mine.
Amniotic fluid does not come out of fabric seating as easily as leather.
"How are you feeling?" I asked him.
He gave me a exaggerated sigh, "I'm a little shocked, I have one baby that hasn't turned the right way. My husband isn't here yet and my best friend just broke my water? How are you?" His breathing was labored, obvisously, and I had to get him inside.
"Do you wanna walk or do you need a wheelchair?" He leaned inside the car against the door, "I need a chair, please?" I nodded and ran to grab one.
I put him in a chair and grabbed his bag from the backseat, "Now this bag has everything you need right?" "Yes, I had Ditie grab two outfits; one for each girl. And I also needed two outfits thrown in there."
I nodded, "Can you hold this?" "Yeah, here." He took his bag and I wheeled him inside.
Dr. Alan was right there to meet us. Mitch put his elbow up on the armrest and held his head in his hand. I rubbed his shoulders, "Come on, baby this is excting!" Mitch grunted, "Stop! You're making me nauseous."
Mitch's POV
"Thank god, Lisa! You don't know how happy I am to see you." I almost stood up out of my wheel chair to hug her. She chuckled, "Hi Mitch, how are you doing?"
I sighed, "Well my water broke on the way here." I gave Kirstie a look and she looked up at the ceiling whistling.
I chuckled and showed her my amniotic soaked pants, she sighed, "Oh, okay. Let's get you upstairs, now!" She rushed over to the reception desk to get my pretty green coded breaclet from labor and delivery.
I looked to Kirstie, "See if you can call Scott and let him know what's going on. I hate to say this but," I rubbed my belly, "he's gonna miss the birth."
Kirstie put her hand on my shoulder, "He'll make it, just you wait." I sighed as Dr. Alan came back with my hospital bracelet, "Here's your pretty bracelet." Just as she put it on, I was having a small contraction, "Oh shit!"
She leaned down, "What?" "They're getting worse!" Dr. Alan put her stethescope on my belly, "Okay let's get him upstairs." I was quickly rushed to Labor and Delivery.
----------------
After a long and painful 10 minutes of running up and down halls, I finally made into my room. My clothes were ripped off of me and I was put into a gown.
Dr. Alan and Kirstie were introduced. "I'm sorry, Lisa, this is my friend, Kirstie Maldonado. She's filling in for Scott today."
Lisa paused, "Wait, where is he, then?" I sighed, pulling my gown on, "He had to take a unnecessary last-minute trip to Kansas. But he's on his way."
I looked at Kirstie as my gown was being tied, "Kit, did you call him?"
She sighed, "Sorry, you were having a contraction when you told me to call him, he's probably on his plane now." Lisa shushed everybody, "I need everybody to just relax! You do not need this tension right now."
She walked over, grabbing my arm and bracing my back, "Mitch I need you to lay down so I can check Baby C and your dialation."
"Baby C?" I asked her. "Yeah, that's the baby that was upturned, I have to see if she turned or not in the past couple weeks."
"What if she didn't?" She paused. "Lisa!" "I'm not sure what could happen. We'll see when we get there. I'll be right back." I laid on the bed laboring my head off.
