The Mafia Head's Little Princess

Qian Renshu stayed by Zhang Liqin's side until she drifted into a peaceful sleep. Just as he quietly stepped away, his pocket vibrated, signaling an incoming call on his phone.

Moving towards the floor-to-ceiling windows, he retrieved his phone from his pocket and answered the call. On the other end, a familiar voice spoke urgently, it was Gao Yu's voice. "Boss. The Japanese Yakuza Group wanted to do a transaction. They ordered 500 million yuan worth of our products and..."

Qian Renshu's brow furrowed as he listened to the report. Gao Yu quickly briefed him on the details of the proposed transaction, and which products the clients were ordering.

"...they insisted on an immediate meeting to finalize the deal," Gao Yu continued urgently. "Where do you want to meet, boss?"

Qian Renshu's mind quickly processed the information. A transaction of such magnitude with the Yakuza not only meant significant financial gains but also posed considerable risks.

"Tell them to meet us in Guangzhou Port Harbour this Friday at 9 PM." Qian Renshu instructed, his voice measured and focused. "Get the team ready. We'll proceed with caution. I want thorough background checks on their representatives and extra security measures in place," he continued, his mind already formulating a strategy to navigate the potential pitfalls of dealing with the Yakuza.

"Understood, boss."

As he ended the call, Qian Renshu gazed out of the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights casting a glow on his contemplative expression.

He gave Zhang Liqin one last glance before he quietly left the room, careful not to disturb her sleep.

Unbeknownst to him, an ominous red light flickered within the bouquet of dried flowers placed on the bedside table. Its subtle glow was masked by the intricate arrangement of petals and stems, concealing the source from plain sight.

It took three days for Zhang Liqin to recover fully from her fever and food poisoning, yet Huang Bolin never once checked up on her during those days. It was as if the man had completely erased himself from her life.

On the first day of her illness, she gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he might be occupied or unaware of the severity of her condition. However, as the second and third days passed without a single word from him, Zhang Liqin's concern deepened and her mind began to entertain various possibilities.

Did he get a fever and food poisoning as I did? Zhang Liqin thought. I should visit him once I get better!

On the third day, in the early morning, as Zhang Liqin regained her strength, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She reached for her phone and dialled his number. To her dismay, the call went unanswered.

Growing more anxious, she opted to send a text message: "Bolin-gege, I haven't heard from you in a while. I've been sick the past few days and was hoping to check in on you. Is everything okay?"

As Zhang Liqin anxiously awaited a response, the silence from Huang Bolin's end continued. Then half an hour later, she saw her message was read, yet there was still no reply from him.

She sent another text message: "Bolin-gege, how about I go to your apartment right now? Don't be angry anymore, and let's resolve this in person."

A second after she sent the message, an incoming call from him alarmed her. Zhang Liqin's heart skipped a beat as a sense of relief washed over her.

Picking up the call, she answered quickly, "Bolin-gege?"
