Trachea is banging on my door in the morning, telling me to change into my training clothes and meet them all in the living room. I slowly trudge out of the warm sheets and go to the closet. I pull out a black and red uniform, the the number two printed on the shoulder.
I change quickly and pull my hair into a ponytail, that has two braids going through it. I open the door and find Asher waiting with Omar.
"Alright you two, today you have to show the game makers what you're made of. Ariston, you need to throw knives like you did on the train and Asher, do whatever you do." Omar says and I snicker.
"You don't want him doing that." I mumble and walk towards the elevator.
"I heard that!" Asher calls after me, stepping on the elevator.
"You were supposed to."
It was a short ride to the training floor, and when we get there, the doors open and we see only a few tributes already there. I straighten up my body and walk in boldly. Asher stays by my side, and I see he has a smirk on his face. We get some evil glares, but the majority of people look scared.
I see the tributes from five, and see the the boy is a big dude, about the size of Asher. He looks tough, since he's one of the ones that's staring at us rudely. The blonde girl next to him looks about my age. She looks scared, but stays close to him.
We walk up to Theca and Iris. They're talking to the tributes from Four. Both of them have dark tans, which doesn't surprise me.
The boy turns around and flashes a wide smile.
"I'm Kai, and this is Lua." The boy says, and points to the dark haired girl next to him. She smiles at me and we shake hands.
"I'm Ariston, and that's Asher." I say. They smile and nod.
It takes a few minutes for the rest of the tributes to arrive. While we wait, we get to know them more. We find out that the district four tributes names are tropical names that are very popular back in their district.
"Alright tributes, gather around," a lady says, with dark skin. We gather around the lifted area that she stands on and wait for her instructions.
"In two weeks, twenty three of you will be dead. One will be alive. To determine who that winner is, is based on how well you do during training. You all might want to rush to a sword, but don't ignore the survival skills. A bush can be just as lethal as a knife."
With that scary speech, she dismisses us to start.
District One and Four gather around us just a quickly.
"Where do you all want to head first?" Theca asks.
"I'd rather train by myself. You know, go to the stations alone instead of overcrowding the worker." I say.
"Yeah, I agree with sparky." Iris says. I give her a confused/hatred look. Where did sparky come from?
"Alright then. It's settled." Kai says and him and Lua walk away from us, towards the tridents and spears.
Theca heads toward the dagger station and Iris goes towards archery.
"Where do you want to go?" Asher says. I turn around at him sharply.
"What makes you think I want to train with you?" I say rudely.
"Well, maybe because we're partners in this and we need to work together."
"No, we're not going to work together. Twenty four go in, one comes out. And I'm not going to be generous and let someone else win. I'm coming out of this because I have a family that needs me. So don't think that if we work together, you will get something out of it." I yell at him. Every tributes head is turned now. They all stare at me with hatred. Asher looks hurt, but he shakes it off quickly, wanting to keep his though guy reputation.
