We finally reach the cornucopia a few minutes later, wanting to hurry up. The scream defiantly came from Iris, because it was high-pitched. However, no cannon followed, so whatever it was she must have escaped.
We walk into the clearing and see that we're the only ones there.
"Stay close, they could be hiding." I say to him.
We walk in front of where the cornucopia opens, and Theca suddenly jumps out and tackles Elian. They go sprawling on the floor, and I can't throw a knife at them because it might hit Elian. Finally, Theca stands and pulls Elian up in a choke hold. Elian can't move, and Theca has Elian's body covering his.
I raise my arm to throw a knife.
"Ah, you might not want to do that," Theca taunts. He jerks Elian around and Elian grunts. "You might hit your boyfriend."
"You don't need to do this." I say, trying to convince him to let him go. The others will be here shortly, and if Iris shows up, Elian is for sure dead.
"Yes I do, because if he dies, then so does a part of you." Theca grins evilly and holds is spear up to Elian's neck.
I stay silent but stare straight at Theca, not saying a word.
"You know I expected more from you. You shouldn't have betrayed us and gone off running with people who were bound to lose." Theca says and presses the spear closer to his neck. Elian grunts again.
"Maybe you should've done the same." Someone says behind Theca and hits him across the head. Theca releases Elian and screams. I see Asher looking at me from behind Theca. Elian grabs his sword and stands in front of me. He knows that I can do more damage than he can, but at least he's trying to protect me.
Theca turns to Asher. "I should've know that you had something do do with it."
"Look who's here. Snow White and her little dwarf." A voice says behind us and I turn to see Iris with a long scratch on her face. I hold my knife out to her.
"They're expecting a finale. Let's give it to them." Iris smirks and pulls out her bow and arrow.
Iris fires an arrow at me, but Elian jumps in front of it and blocks it with his sword. He punches her and she pulls out her dagger. I turn and see Asher and Theca fighting. I'm about to jump in on the fight between Iris and Elian, until I see Phoenix sprinting towards us with a sword in her hand. I grab my knives and throw one straight for her, but she rolls out of the way and swings her sword at me. I duck but her sword catches my hair and it chops off. I look at my remaining hair, now one side is up to my shoulders. I liked my long hair, and hopefully the capital can put on extensions.
"Cut one side, might as well cut the rest." She smirks and swings her sword at the other side of me. I block it with my longest knife, but her sword over powers me. I kick her in the stomach before she can swing again and she goes stumbling backwards. I swing my knife at her repeatedly, yelling out with each thrust. She backs away and we're soon in the middle of the field, away from the rest of the fights going on.
I finally slice her cheek and she screams and drops to the ground. I climb on top of her and pin down her arms. She screams an struggles against my weight. She's twice the size of me, but she can't seem to get loose of my hold. I pin my knees on her wrists and pull out a knife.
I hate when careers give the capital a show, but this girl has killed Sampson and so many other innocent kids, so she deserves to be tortured.
"Doesn't feel good to be on the bottom, does it?" I say. I don't even sound like myself. I sound cruel and mean, but I can't help but smile.
