I just put my face on the pillow frustrated with everyone not being able to understand me. Then out of all fucking odds, of course, I saw Jim once again knocking on the door to my balcony. But this time I was frustrated and not watching full house. I could only hear him mumble through the glass so I let him in.

Jim: oh hey emery, do you want to meet the gang tomorrow. We're doing our rituals tomorrow.

Emery: I started laughing because I knew exactly what he was talking about. Except we had a different word for it in Los Angeles. To prove if you were cool or not at crazy party's some of my friends hosted, they came up with the idea that is whoever jaywalked in front of the fuzz determined if you were part of the cool crowd. I sat on my bed amused with my arms crossed with a smirk on my face.

Emery: yeah, what are your rituals.

Jim: well we jump off the cliff into the Harlem River.

Emery: fuck, that's it, I said.

Jim: why are you so surprised?

Emery: I'd thought you'd do something more illegal than that.

Jim: are you out of your mind.

Emery: yeah, I'd suppose I am.

Jim: please come this time Emery.

Emerys POV:
Emery: I'll come I promise okay.
As I was standing on my balcony, I caught a glimpse of him strolling down the stairs to his bedroom window, his was much of a smaller window, located on the first floor.

I got out of my bed and asked my dad if I could go with Jim to eat pizza. I clearly lied to him because I really didn't care.

Dad: ok sure. But get home before dark.

Emery: Dad geez, you'd act like I'm dying or somebody is gonna knock me out on the side of the street and drug me.

Dad: that's what I was exactly thinking. The streets of new York are clearly not safe. There are druggies around us everywhere you turn. Plus we're not living in the best neighborhood.

Emery: I'm going to be fine dad, You're such a worry wart. Plus Jim wouldn't let anything happen to me.

Dad: okay whatever you say, Emery, just get back before sunset.

Emery: thanks dad I love you!

Dad: you know emery, I think this Jim guy kinda likes you. Trust me as a man, I know what it feels like to love someone.

Emery: dad it's not like that, you don't get it, the only thing I'm in love with is pizza. You just don't get it. He doesn't like me so let me fantasize about eating pizza while I can. That's the only reason why I'm going in the first place.

Dad: I don't get it? I was a teenager once too! You know that right? Just keep telling yourself that, Emery.
