Before the carnival:
Today was the day I unfortunately had to go to the carnival with Jim. I had a feeling my dad was going to be difficult about the whole situation. I didn't have high hopes for the day, so I didn't bother putting much effort into my outfit. Just went for some casual Levi's jeans and a sweatshirt, and I sported my basic Adidas. As I suspected, my dad soon appeared at the door and announced, "It's about time to go to the carnival."
Emery said, "Don't you know that I understand that?"

"I really hope you have a great time," said Dad.

I said this in a sarcastic remark: Emery said, 'Dad, you know I sure will.'
As I, unfortunately, had to walk out on the steps with Jim, we didn't even look at each other, that's how much we didn't like each other. Jim's friends were hanging out around the bottom of the steps.
"Is that your new girlfriend, Jim?" Mickey inquired.
"Yeah, Jim are you going on a date with, whoever this girl is, oh wait I forgot you're taking your sweet girlfriend to the carnival that's in town, Neutron spoke."

"Fuck, I seriously can't stand this girl, and my mom is making me hang out with her," Jim said, clearly frustrated.

Mickey said, "If you really dislike this girl so much, why not hang out with Neutron tonight instead? He's going to be spending the night at a girl's house and watching movies with her."

Jim said, "I really can't. Maybe we can do our rituals tomorrow. Don't you get that, Mick?" He added, sounding annoyed.

Mickey asked, "So you're saying you actually like her?"

Neutron and Mickey said, "Ooooh, Jim's got a crush!"

Jim snapped, "Shut up, before I shove my foot up your ass!"

A few minutes later we arrived at this "outlandish" carnival that was in town.
I would've thought Jim would have ditched me but he kept staying near me for some odd reason. I would often catch him looking over at me from the corner of those blue eyes of his.

Emery asked, "I know we don't really get along, Jim, but would you mind if we split up? This situation is making me uncomfortable."

Jim remarked, "I don't honestly care. Let's go our separate ways but stay close if that makes sense. Just because I was forced to be with you doesn't mean anything. I don't like you and probably never will. So all I'm saying is, for Gods sakes, don't get the wrong idea about me."

As Jim said this, I noticed he was staring at the ground, which was a bit odd. But I didn't think much of it at the time.

As we went our separate ways, I was just exploring what this carnival had to offer. I could remember this one being a lot smaller than the one I had back home. There weren't as many things to do here. I was beyond ready for this ridiculous thing to be over. I found a nearby bench and I was observing what was going on around me since I had nothing better to do. Even though I hated this trip, at least I got the chance to sightsee. Which was one of my favorite things to do. I could feel the fall breeze and the sounds of chatter amongst me. People playing games trying to win prizes, and you could see the Ferris wheel and all the unique food stands they had. I heard someone say amongst the chatter there was a concert tonight. And they had this one thing too like all carnivals do, they had shops, where people from small businesses were selling their goods. I checked my watch and it was almost 9 pm. I had to get back home soon. I didn't care if I left Jim... in fact he didn't even care either so what's the point anymore?
