Welcome to Shadow's Taking it Easy arc, where it's everything but easy to take a break from what you love. Such love for Marcus was the cleansing of scum, relating to a certain "Shadow Walker." This arc mostly contains Class of 09 elements, where this book is taking place in. Which route am I doing now? You'll just have to find out.

Enjoy...

January 2nd, 2009...

"So then my present is fucking socks! SOCKS!"

"Oh please, be lucky you got warm clothing at all. I had to buy a jacket in the freezing snow!"

"I went to Florida. Couldn't be me!"

All the rage at school Monday morning was there Christmas break and the continuation of something else.

"You heard that Marcus beat the shooter allegations?"

"Guess he shoots more than baskets, if you know what I mean."

I rolled my eyes and tried to look at my new mailed schedule.

...

BUMP!

"Watch where you're going!"

"Then get the fuck out of-- Nicole?"

"Marcus!?"

It was Nicole... just as lost as me.

"Oh shit. I forgot you beat the shooter allegations," she said.

"I would assume you'd remember something like that," I said.

...

"Yeah how did I not remember that?" Nicole asked herself. I sighed. Nicole was still Nicole.

"Got any New years resolutions?" I asked her.

"Oh please, that's just a fancy way of saying 'I'm gonna procrastinate another year,'" Nicole says.

"Well... any plans for the new year?" I asked.

"Just keep being Nicole," she answers.

"Pretty sure that plan is going well," I said, snickering.

"You know it," she replied.

"Nicole! Marcus!"

Nicole and I turn to see Jecka approaching us, still wearing the same preppy clothes she always gets.

"How was the break Jecka?" I asked.

"Same old same old," Jecka says, "Was out of town for a few days. You know my parents."

"I see. That's why you weren't there at the trial," I said.

"I practically begged my mom to turn on the news," she says, "You don't how relieved I was when you turned up innocent."

"I was surprised in person," Nicole says, "I actually thought it wouldn't taken a big turn for the worst."

"How so?" I asked.

"Racism... obvi..." Nicole answers.

...

"Oh... I've been on the receiving end of some... negative comments toward my race..." I said to them.

"What did you do?" Jecka says.

"Did you shoot him?" Nicole asks.

"What?" Jecka asks Nicole.
