Lydia was still trying to wrap her head around movie characters in real life. This day couldn't get any stranger, she decided. She squared her shoulders and lifted her chin she could handle strange.
"Ok we need some sort of plan." She told her companions. "We can't just stay in the park" the sound of branches breaking in the distance made her glance behind her. "We need to find a place to stay."
"That sounds like a very good Idea." Mary replied still sounding very nervous.
The Wookie arfed and and the robot bleeped so she assumed they agreed too.
"Alright then..." She pursed her lips considering her options. "This way I guess." she took the other girl's arm to guide her. She was relieved when the others fell in behind her. Lydia didn't want to admit it but this place, where ever it was. set her on edge like nowhere else she had ever been. Having someone she was sure could fight if needed helped... a little.
She tried to look confident, but this whole town was triggering the Banshee like mad too. To her left she caught a glimpse of a semi- transparent squid bouncing through the air. After a quick glance she pointedly ignored the thing hoping it would go back to wherever ghost squids come from.
The sound of heavy movement behind them seemed closer as she kept her eyes firmly forward.
"BLeeeet!" the little robot warned rather frantically.
Lydia risked a look back. The creature was definitely... concerning. It was the size and roughly the shape of a large bear, but it sported a duck beak and a long flat tail. And it looked more than a little p***ed.
"Not good!" Lydia exclaimed, as the monstrosity lowered it's head and prepared to charge. "Run!" she shouted, pulling Mary along with her as she broke into a sprint.
They ran hard and ducked into the first unlocked door Lydia could find. A souvenir shop she thought, but she barely had time to notice because the bear thing plowed through the glass door in pursuit of them. She led everyone into the back storage area and out the rear of the building. The Wookie slammed the door behind them and moved a dumpster in front of it.
"Right" she thought almost hysterically as the blind girl clinging to her almost crushed her arm in fear. "The big guy could have probably handled the bear."
As her breathing evened out a bit Lydia took stock of where they were. A dim narrow alley lined with dumpsters and trash. She wrinkled her nose and looked both ways. The street was closer to the right so she headed that way.
As they stepped out into the glow of the street lights once more she frowned at the truly bizarre building across the road. A huge sign declared FENTON WORKS and number of large metal devices and sensors sprouted from the top in every direction looking like a strange mutated and twisted tree.
In the middle of the street two people looked as dumbfounded she felt by the building.
"What sort of work do you think they do there?" The petite blonde woman asked the bald older man beside her without taking her eyes off it.
"I just want to know why... WHY some one would ever build something like that."
The woman tilted her head and studied it from a different angle "well... I think Shawn would like it."
The man sighed "Exactly my point." With a frown he turned his head, noticing the approaching foot steps no doubt. "Ah what is this new nonsense?" He waved an arm in their direction.
"I'm starting to wonder if we're inside Shawn's head." The woman said
"Are you lost too?" Lydia asked.
