Ugh. I meant to record the number of stories using the #onc2024 tag for Week 1, which was under 300 when I first posted and over when I made my edit, but apparently, I left it out.
That was so I could do a week-by-week note of how many stories got tagged for the first round, compared to the number of stories they had entered (which will include as well as the number of stories nixed the stories where someone resubmitted because of not realizing, say dropping their story into an existing blank draft will say the story was published before the first. I'm now seeing 384.
Also, I keep seeing a particular LGBT story pop up, and even if I don't get around to reading it, I am still looking forward to seeing how it does as it has an interesting summary and, a beautiful cover, and I recognize the writer's name, but the prompt is highly recognizable and I think their take is fantastic.
A quick glance through just fanfic so a quick reminder that being inspired to write your own magical school story doesn't make your story a Harry Potter fanfic (Worst Witch/Little Witch Academia are other fandom that use this trope) and be sure to include all the major prompt elements rather than just taking the basic prompt premise.
As for my stories, I've got four started with one having met the 2k mark, which is slow, but then I've gone through quite a few drafts which stems from getting the opening of the story right can be a break or make for a writer. Scars and Ashes actually saw what was supposed to be the first chapter turn into a later chapter and three to four chapters that happen before that chapter to help set up the story for readers, particularly those not familiar with the fandom.
