Ember POV

--------------------------

A firm grip grabbed my shirt sleeve, lifted me up, and dragged me outside. I rubbed my eyes, frowning and looking around for what was going on.

"Ember...Ember!" My mommy screamed at me. "Wake up...!" She slapped my arm and continued to drag me. She let go of my arm, commanding me to climb up a tall ladder. I started to climb, making my way up until I was at the very top. I then came to the realization, I was on the crane. Mommy started walking to the edge of the crane, and turned back to me. I automatically followed her, holding my left arm as I walked.

"Ember...Mommy has had enough with you, Daddy, and your brother Matt, and it seems I'm no longer needed here, so...Let your father know tomorrow morning that I went on a little trip...and will, not be coming back. I'm fed up with all the bullshit in life, and am not coming back. Do you understand...?" I looked at her with a bit of sorrow and confusion, but nodded my head.

"Good. I love you, sweetie." She gently kissed the top of my head, before handing me daddy's wedding ring. "Take good care of them, okay?" My eyes widened as she turned back, letting the wind flow through her almost black hair. Her eyes sparkled in the moonlight as tears flowed down her cheeks.

She turned back, walking to the edge. Before I was able to react, she stepped off, falling to the sandy ground below. "Mommy!" I screamed, racing over. From up here, I could see a small blood pool forming around her, the hair covering her face as she lay sprawled out in the sand. The wind made the sand dance over her body, eventually covering her up completely, forming a little grave.

I ran down to where she was lying and sat by her, crying for hours.

I gently placed the wedding ring on her chest, burying my face in-between my knees, mourning her for the rest of the night.

The next morning, Daddy found me outside next to the pile of sand which had mommy's body beneath it. "Ember! There you are...You scared me. What're you doing out here at four in the morning?" I pointed to Mommy's wedding ring and started crying again. "Oh...Shit. Shit, shit, shit!" Daddy started clawing through the sand, eventually finding mommy laying there, pale and motionless. "Emmie...No..." His voice started to turn to a whisper as he choked up. He embraced her face, gently lifting her up. "Emmie! Talk to me, please!" He screamed, shaking her body.

No response, nothing.

Daddy covered his face with his hands, starting to cry though them. "She's really dead, isn't she..." He whispered through his hands, muffling his voice.

"She's dead." He repeated.
