Chapter 21: An Overlooked Mistake

Camil remembers the time when the Rasilieus Royal Family denied his existence and acceptance in the family tree, it hurts him that he was abandoned before he could even hope to be part of them.

"There's no Reming...on Rasilieus."

Camil muttered, angry for holding on to that hope.

"You've left that damn place long ago!"

Ray said as though he heard him.

"That corrupt, moldering order. We've already thrown it away!"

Ray reminds him of what they did before.

"Order and whatever, royalty or anything like that. None of it matters, your name belongs to you, you can be Camil and you can be Reming. No has the right to stop you! But you, why would you deny yourself that time and time again?!"

Ray hates that his little brother keeps rejecting his other identity.

Camil sobs quietly at Ray's words, hurtful as it is. They are also true, Palos applauds them when he witness this.

"You insist on this bravado even in this situation, that's the you I know."

Palos punches Ray in the guts, it hurts him but he stands his ground.

"Even after leaving Rasilieus, you kept that royal title. Conspicuously telling everybody."

He slaps Ray in the face and he stumbles backwards.

"There's a pirate who fought against the order in the name of freedom from The Rasilieus Royal Family, Ray. You truly make me want to tear apart that pride of your's."

He takes him by the neck and slams him to the barrier, Ray couldn't feel the pain coming from the barrier because of the protective energy around him but he can feel Palos's tight grip on his neck which made it difficult for him to breathe.

"Brother!"

Camil called, worried of what will happen to his brother. He tries his best to move but because his whole body is tired and aching from the battle with Pelley, he wasn't able to.

"Give it up, Camil. You can't save Ray, you can't save yourself. The weak deserve to be stripped of everything!"

He states.

"What about you then?"

Ray utters despite being strangled.

"Did becoming something like that, get you what you wanted? You don't even have yourself anymore! You've gave up on even yourself, just to live."

He said, Palos understands what he meant and because of his hesitation. The power of darkness hurts him for a moment.

"Shut up!"

He said as he regains his composure and pushes Ray in the barrier.

"Am I wrong? In order to survive, you'll abandon anything. Lie to and scam anyone, including yourself."

Because of his words are true, Palos regrets his actions that led to this moment. The more he doubts, the more the darkness will hurt him. He releases Ray from his grip because of his head that feels like splitting into two and Ray who was still firm in his belief., continues his words

"But does that really count as living? Without dignity, without a sense of self. You have nothing left, Palos!"

"What do you know?!"
