Unbroken love

Chapter 6

"Maddie will you go out with me", Luke asked, through his voice trembled. Maddie and Liz shared a look. Maddie wanted to say yes, but her sister opinion is really what mattered to her. Liz gave her a look 'Why you asking me?' Look then nodded her head excitedly, grinning broadly. Maddie then turned back to Luke to give him his answer.
Luke's heart raced in his chest as he awaited her answer. 'Feel free to say something before I throw up,' he thinks, while his stomach churned from nerves. When Maddie turned back to him, her beautiful eyes sparkling, and a huge grin lighting up her face, he knew the answer before she spoke.
"Yes Luke I would love to go out with you!"
Luke, overcome with happiness, kissed Maddie right there, in front of everyone. Maddie was a bit shocked at first, more at his abruptness than anything, but kissed him back all the same. Once they pulled apart, Luke grabbed Maddie's hand and led her to the couch. They sat whispering to each other while both their faces flushed.
Bo sat opposite Liz, watching her reactions to Luke and Maddie, his eyes sparkling with an emotion he rarely felt toward someone who wasn't immediate family, that was love. When Liz's face lit up from watching Luke kissing Maddie, Bo realized he needed to ask her out on a date, but he couldn't do it in front of everyone like Luke did. For he lacked the confidence Luke had for these things.
"Ummm...Liz?"
"Yes?" She asks, looking up at him, her eyebrows creased together. Not in anger, but in wonder, with a bit of confusion as to why he had wanted her attention.
"Can we talk..?" He asks, then quickly adds, "privately," while his eyes scan the room.
She nods in reply, still confuse.
Bo stands and holds his hands out for hers. She takes it, feeling the sparks from his touch. (I know that's a bit cliche, but is happens). Bo helps her up from her chair, then leads her out to the barn, where they can talk alone. Well not completely alone. The animals were great company. Not to mention they wouldn't the situation all awkward if Liz turns Bo down. Or so Bo thought. He was really hoping that Liz would say yes, but he wasn't sure if she had made other plans for that night with other friends for that night or not.
They reach the doors and Bo turns to Liz, taking both of her hands in his.
"Uh. Liz. I just wanted to ask you something."
"So I've gathered," Liz says softly, her lips pulling up on one side in a half smile.
"Oh right," Bo says, scratching the back of his neck.
"Well....uh....I...I was just....uh....yah know....wondering if....you might....possibly....want to go on....uh...go on a uh date...with me?" Liz's face light up, her smile spreading all the way to her eyes. She had been waiting for a week to hear his say those words. Well not those words exactly, but just to hear him say, or rather ask, her out? Well that was a dream come true. "Of course Bo," she says, though she wonders how he able to understand her, since her smile made it difficult to speak proper English. "I would love to go on a date with you." "Really? You mean it?" Bo asks, a huge boyish grin spreading across his face.
Liz nods. "Yes Bo, I really do."
Bo let's out a rebel yell, and wraps his arms around Liz so tightly, she has difficulty breathing. She doesn't seem to mind that too much though, since she wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him pretty tightly as well. They pulled apart and Bo takes Liz's hand. Together they walk into the house, ready to make and announcement to the family. Liz and Maddie went to find Daisy. "We have something to tell you" said Maddie and Liz at the some time. "What do you have to tell me" asked Daisy. "The boys asked us out on a date" said Maddie. "Ahhhhhh" said Daisy. Daisy takes the girls to her room. "Do you guys have anything nice to wear for the date." "No we do not", says Liz. Daisy takes the girls to the mall to get nice clothes for there date with the boys. They come back with 3 shopping bags. "What did you guys all buy," asked Bo.
"Just clothes," Liz replies, as daisy leads the way back to her room, so the girls can get ready.
Once they get to her room, the girls empty the bags onto daisys bed. Maddie immediately starts looking through the clothes, while Liz nervously bites her nails. Daisy notices and nudges her.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"What..what if something goes wrong on this date?" Liz asks, her voice trembling.
"Nothing's going to go wrong," Maddie says, straightening up holding a cute shirt and jean shorts in her hands. "It's dinner and a movie." She holds out the outfit in her arms. "Here, try this on. Daisy and I won't look."
Liz takes the outfit, her face lighting up. "Oh wow, this is cute."
Maddie giggles. "I know."
After they try the outfit on they go and get there hair and nails done and they went to get make-up. They go back to the house before the date will start at 7pm. They get back to the house about 4:30. They all take showers before they all go out. The boys get a shower first then the girls go. "Hey Bo are you ready yet", asked Luke. "Give me 5 more mintues", said Bo. "It is almost time to meet the girls", said Luke.
"I know, 5 more minutes won't kill you," Bo says, as he runs a comb through his hair.
Luke sighs, and sits on the edge of the bed, staring at himself in the mirror.
Meanwhile.
The girls are in daisys room, while daisy fixes their hair.
"Thank you so much for helping daisy," Liz says, while she works on maddies hair.
"Anytime," daisy says, grinning. "I'm just happy to see my cousins happy ya know?"
"Yeah I know," Liz says quietly, looking down.
Daisy glances at her, curious as to why she had suddenly gone all quiet. "Oh I'm sorry. Did I say something wrong?"
"What?" Liz asks, "oh no. I just had a flashback of my previous relationship."
The boys walk out to see the girls waiting by the door. Bo walks up to Liz. Bo takes her hand and spins her around to meet his icy blue eyes. "Wow you look wow," says Bo. Luke does the same thing to Maddie. But she almost hits him in the face but he duke's in time for her to miss. "I am so sorry Luke for almost hitting your pretty face", days Maddie.
Luke straightens up, and looks down at Maddie, considering their height difference, and smiles. "It's ok. I'm just glad you know how to defend yourself."
Maddie grins, blushing. "I had to take a self defense class a couple years ago. Mom wanted me to be able to defend my sister, so she paid for the classes."
"Really?" Luke asks, "so I assume you're older?"
Maddie nods. "Yeah I'm older, but only by 15 minutes."
Luke's eyes widen. "Wait, you two are twins?"
Maddie nods. "Fraternal twins, yes." Luke looks confused so aw continues. "It means we have the same birthday, but don't necessarily look alike."
Luke nods in understanding. "Same face, different hair."
"Actually," Maddie corrects, though her voice is soft. "We have different eye shapes. I take after mom and she takes after dad."
"You are not older then me", said Liz. "Yes I am", said Maddie. "Only by 15 mintues", said Maddie. "OK but we both take defend classes together mom wanted use to be safe when she is gone on a busy trip", said Liz. "That was after dad died", said Maddie.
"Wait," Bo says, "you're dad died?"
"Yes." Maddie says, sighing heavily. "He died about 5 years ago."
"And mom died 2 months ago," Liz adds, looking down as a tear escapes from her eye and rolls down her cheek.
"I'm sorry," Bo says, "do you want to just go?"
"Yes please," Liz says quietly.
They leave and Luke stares at Maddie, wanting to make sure she's ok.
"Maddie?"
"Hmmm?"
"You ok?"
She shakes her head. "No, but I will be. It'll just take some time."
"Believe me," Luke says, "I know how you feel."
"You do?" Maddie asks, raising and eyebrow.
Luke nods. "My parents, Bo's parents, and daisys all died long ago, that's why our uncle Jesse raised us. But I guess it was different with us," he says, his voice becoming very soft and gentle. "Because we all had each other and uncle Jesse to help us through it. We were all to young to really understand what was happening so..."
"Can we go please?" Maddie asks, cutting him off. Not that she's mad at him, but because she would rather not ruin her evening before it actually began.
"Of course," Luke says, nodding. His cheeks turn a slight shade of pink, but he holds his arm out for her anyways. She takes it and he leads her out to Dixie, daisys jeep.
"What about the general?"
"Oh," Luke says, helping her in the jeep. "Bo wanted to take Liz out using the general, and to be honest, I'd rather not drive it. He's a better driver for a car with that much power, than I am anyways."
"And daisy let you use her jeep?"
He looks up and smiles at her. "No. She let US use her jeep."
Maddie smiles as he climbs into the jeep.
They all go to the boars nest. (Fix it if I missed spelled it). They all sit together at the same table Luke and Maddie sit next to each other Bo and Liz sit next to each other. "What should we get to eat", asked Maddie. "We should get one item and share it", said Luke. They all get beer and drink it all gone. There order come when a guy had so many beers come over to there table.
The guys stumbles over to the table and leans a little to close to Maddie. Luke's eyes narrow and his fists clench under the table.
"Hey sweet thing," the guy mumbles, though Maddie had to focus to understand what he was saying. "You wanna dance?"
"No thank you," Maddie says politely, knowing the man had too much too drink. "And I'd really appreciate it if you would back away from me, thanks."
She turns around, and opens her mouth to say something to Liz, when the guy turns her around, his face red with anger. Clearly he was an angry drunk.
"Hey, I asked you to dance. Now come dance!" He growls, grabbing her wrist as yanking her out of the chair.
Luke stands and punches the guy in the face, after making sure Maddie was out of the way. The guy stumbles back, and releases Maddie out of shock.
Just their luck, roscoe comes walking out of bosses office.
Roscoe shoots his gun off and they stop fighting. "What is going in here", asked roscoe. "Well this drunk guy over start to dance with my date tonight", said Luke. "Well that is no reason to start a fight with a guy", said roscoe. "What is going on here", asked boss. As he is coming out if his office.
