The girls enter the jail house and run into rosco as he's walking back up the stairs from the cells.
"Hey rosco," Maddie says, stopping on the top step.
Rosco looks up, and smiles. "Hello girls, I'm sorry, visiting hours are over."
Maddie smiles, even though she's holding back from running past him and locking herself in one of the cells, preferably the one with Luke. "That's ok. We wanted to talk to you."
Rosco pauses, frowning. "You did?"
Maddie nods. "Yes we did. Can we talk upstairs?"
Rosco nods, and the girls move out of the way so he can walk past them. He reaches the girls and motions for them to lead the way into the other room. They do, and rosco sits down behind his desk, as the girls take the chairs in front.
"Now what did you want to-"
"The boys didn't start that fight!" Maddie cuts him off, allowing her voice to be the only thing showing her annoyance with the situation.
"Yeah rosco," Liz adds, her voice hoarse from all the yelling earlier. "The guys didn't start that fight. The guy who they were throwing around did."
"Oh really?" Rosco asks, leaning forward, not sounding convinced. "And what reason would he have to start the fight?"
"Well," Maddie says, as she and Liz exchange a look. "Ok maybe they did, but they were trying to get that creep away from us. We tried telling him multiple times, that we weren't interested in him, but he still kept at it. So Bo and Luke told him to stop. He didn't so they punched him. But they were just protecting us. So in a way, it was just self defense."
Rosco shakes his head, his face softening. Either he finally believes us, or he's just being sympathetic. He's been known to do that with the two of us. We're his 'weak spot' so to speak. "I'm sorry girls, but if they took the first swing, then they're guilty as charged." "Then what do we have to get them out of the jail" asked Liz. "You have two options you can the first one is to find the guy and get the truth out of him. The second one is to pay $500 to get Bo and Luke Duke out of the jail" said Roscoe. "Ok we will do it" said Maddie. As the girls left the jail house and ran into there cousin. They tell him what is going on with the Duke boys. "What should we do Jim" asked Liz. "I don't know cuz" said Jim. "I might have any idea" said Maddie. "What's you're idea?" Jim asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well, I was thinking we could just find the guy and get him to confess," Maddie says, scratching the back of her neck.
"And how do we do that?" Liz asks, looking bewildered.
"I'm not sure," Maddie answers.
"Psst! Maddie!" Luke hisses from the jail cell window.
Maddie jumps and looks around at the sound of his voice. It takes her a minute to realize where he is and she goes to him alone, while the other two keep watch for boss and/or rosco. She rushes over to him and kneels down.
"What is it Luke?"
"I couldn't help but here what you were saying, and I've had an idea." He says, glances behind him.
"What's you're idea?" Maddie whispers, urgently.
"I heard the guy telling his friend that he was going to be at the hotel for tonight," he whispers.
"The hotel?" Maddie whispers, for confirmation.
He nods. "Yeah." "What hotel?" asked Maddie "Have Cottor show you guys where the hotel is tonight" said Luke. "Ok Luke you can count on use and one more thing I love you" said Maddie. "I love you too" said Luke. "Maddie we have to go Boss and Roscoe are coming" said Jim. On there way to Cooter's garage they gave Jim the whole story to why the boys are in the jail hosue. They get to Cottons and they see Cooter working on a car. "Hey Cooter" said Liz. "Hey girls and who is the guy behind you girls" ask Cooter. "Cooter this is our cousin Jim or Jimmy" said Maddie. "Nice to meet you," Jim smiles, holding his hand out.
Cooter wipes his hands off, and shakes Jim's hand. "You as well. Now how do y'all know one another?"
Maddie giggles. "He's our cousin, as we told you before."
Cooter cheeks flush. "Oh...right sorry."
Liz giggles. "It's fine."
"Anyways, let's get to the point." Maddie says, instantly taking charge of the situation. "We came for some information."
"About what?" Cooter asks, turning back to the car.
Liz grabs his shoulders and pulls him up straight. "We need to talk to you Cooter, and we need you're full attention."
Cooter sighs. "I really need to fix this car up as well. The guys who brought it in wanted me to work on it so he can leave tonight."
"Did this guys give you a name?" Maddie asks, thinking this is the guy who was hitting on her and Liz.
"Yeah. He said his name was Bill." Cooter answers.
Maddie scoops out the car, paying attention to every detail. She recognizes the car but can't figure out if she's seen it before, or if it's just Deja Vo. Either way she recognized the car, and straightens up, glancing at Liz.
"Liz, does this car look familiar to you?"
Liz shrugs. "You're the one with the photographic memory, remember?"
Maddie nods, looking back at the car. "Well yeah, I know that, but I can't remember where I've seen this car before."
"Maybe it's the guy who was harassing you two?" Jim suggests.
"That's what I was thinking," Maddie says, walking back around the car to stand by cooter. "But I'm not 100% sure. For some reason I feel like I've seen the car before today."
Cooter watches her in awe. "You know, you and Luke are a lot alike."
Maddie blushes. "We are?"
Cooter nods. "Yeah, you're both sharp minded."
Maddie smiles modestly. "I honestly get that a lot. But can we please focus on the situation at hand?"
Cotter clears his throat. "Of course, sorry." "I know i seen this car before today." Maddie said. "Did we saw a car that looks like that when we were at the Boars nest for our date, said Liz." "You went on a date and did not tell me, said Jim." "Yes we did with our boyfriends who are on jail as we speak, said Maddie." "Can we talk about this later, said Liz." "This is more important trying to get our boyfriends out of the jail house with Roscoe and Boss watching it, said Maddie."
