I sat up on the couch with a groan. I wasn't drunk. I didn't have to be. I just had to be not sober.
Therefore, I was slightly buzzed. It was comfortable. Not stoned or wasted or drunk. Just a small high. Effective enough so I don't have to hear that annoying asshole's voice.
I let out a sigh as I stood up and looked at the clock, it was 9:40. Fuck. Well, I just missed history and philosophy, so it's not that big of a deal. I run a hand through my hair before getting ready. I drive my car to my usual parking spot which was surprisingly still empty.
Lucky.
As I stepped out of the car and made my way to the gym, I saw Eddie leaning against the side of the building. I narrowed my eyes as I walked up to him, noticing a black eye and a bloody nose.
"Hey. You good? What happened?" I asked, a slight look of concern on my face, but I quickly scrunched up my face before having a neutral look on my face.
Eddie looked up at me as he heard me and sniffed while rubbing away the blood under his nose and standing up straight.
"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm peachy. Really fan-fucking-tastic." He grumbled out as he held his still bleeding nose.
I cringed lightly and furrowed my eyebrows.
"Jesus, yeah, you might want to get your nose looked at. Looks kind of broken." I mumbled as I walked closer to him, examining his nose from the sides.
I raised my hands up slightly, "Can I?"
He hesitated for a second before nodding, moving his hand away from beneath his nose. I put his face in my hand, touching his nose lightly and he winces. "Yeah, that's definitely broken." I confirm, "Want me to fix it, it's not that banged up?" I ask and he raised his brows, an unimpressed look on his face as if he didn't believe I knew how to take care of his injury.
"You know how to fix a broken nose?""I grew up with two younger brothers and no supervision. Yes, I know how to fix a broken nose." I sass back.
"Yeah, alright sure." He shrugs with a sigh.
"Good. Now, this is gonna hurt." I warn, placing my thumbs on either side of his nose. "Knock, knock." I start and get a confused look. "Come on, its gonna distract you. Knock, knock." I repeat.
He takes a deep breath and rolls his eyes before answering, "Who's-" He starts, and I fix his nose, causing him to scream lightly for a split second, before he was pushing my hands away and grabbing his nose with a grunt. "Fuck, I wasn't ready. Jesus Christ." He cursed as he glared at me. He let go of his nose and shook his hands, getting the stress out.
"Yeah, that was the point. Keeping you distracted." I state and then cross my arms. "Now, what happened?"
"Some fucking first years that just started jumped me. Little assholes. They think I'm a satanic freak and wanted to 'Teach me a lesson', whatever the fuck that means. Oh, and Tommy H, I think the younger ones were auditioning for the basketball team, one of them was named Jason or something like that." Eddie explains and I furrow my brows.
"why didn't you kick their asses?"
"Well, they were like 4 people. And...I don't know. Guess I'm a coward or something. I mean, I can't fight first years, right?" He asks unsure and I just shrug.
"Well, if they're pieces of shit, you can." I reply and I hear the bell ring, signaling the next period.
"Shit, look, Coach is gonna kill me if I don't show up and I already missed the first period of his two-hour torture." I explain as I point towards the gym and Eddie just nods in understanding.
