Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.
Mackenzie had been awake since four in the morning helping a coworker on one of their cases. As the sun began to trickle into her apartment she realized it was almost 6:30 meaning that she had thirty minutes to get ready for work and get her kids up. She walked past their room to go make coffee and paused as a little light caressed their faces. They were her world and she would go to war for them to keep them safe. She smiled seeing their angelic sleeping faces and continued her morning routine. By the time 7 oclock hit she was dressed and had their breakfast ready.
"Tez, Phina, it's time to get up! Grandma is going to be here in thirty minutes to take you to her house" Mack called as she walked into their room in their small two bedroom apartment in New York City.
"Five more minutes, Inati!" Cortez whinned.
"If you sleep any longer then your pancakes will be cold" Mack smirked as she walked out of the room towards the kitchen.
"We're up!" Seraphina yelled as she ran out of their room.
"Inati, you look really pretty" Cortez smiled when he joined them a few seconds later.
"Thank you, Tez. Now, you two eat up, and then I've got to get you ready" Mack smiled as she watched her kids eat.
"Okie dokie!" The twins sang and quickly ate their breakfast.
Mack combed their hair as the kids brushed their teeth. She threw Tez's hair into a cute little curly ponytail and Phina's into a french fishtail braid. After they'd attempted to get into what they thought would be great clothes for the day she dressed them herself. She put Tez in thick jeans, a warm sweater, and cute little biker boots. Phina was in fleece lined tights, a tunic sweater, and sparkly Uggs. Shortly after she'd gotten them ready her mom showed up.
"That's what you're wearing to work?" Mom asked as they put the kids in their winter coats.
"I'm taking my bike to work today since my Land Rover is still in the shop" Mack replied giving her a smile.
"When did Tony say it would be done?" She asked.
"Friday" She answered as she locked the door behind them.
"Bring me a bag with the twins stuff for a week after you get done at work" Mom stated as they walked down the many flights of stairs.
"Yes, ma'am" Mack replied like a little kid causing her mom and kids to laugh.
"Yay! Sleepover for a week at Grandma and Grandpa's!" The twins exclaimed with huge smiles on their faces.
"Thanks, Mom, I really appreciate it. I'll stop by when I can and check up on the twins" Mack smiled as she helped her get the kids in the car.
"It's no problem at all, and what grandparents don't want a week with their grandkids" she smiled back as Mack shut her door for her.
