There are seven days in the week. Someday is not one of them.

"Hey mom!" I yelled walking into my childhood home in upstate New York about two hours from Manhattan.

"Hey, Baby! We're in the kitchen!" She yelled back; as the smell of delicious food tickled my nose.

I walked through the halls, seeing all the pictures of my childhood on the walls, and into the kitchen where my kids sat at the counter, I did homework at, coloring while my mom cooked dinner

I walked through the halls, seeing all the pictures of my childhood on the walls, and into the kitchen where my kids sat at the counter, I did homework at, coloring while my mom cooked dinner. My dad's work truck wasn't in the driveway when I'd gotten here so I knew he was either still out with the farm hands or he was on his way back. Her father was half Ethiopian and Rwandan and her mother was half Columbian and Irish. They both met in high school as mixed ethnicity immigrant kids. The two of them had created three caramel skinned children that spoke multiple languages.

"Hey, babies" I whispered giving them each a kiss feeling a warm motherly love run through my body.

"Hi, Inati!" Tez and Phina smiled making me feel proud to hear the Amharic word for mom from their mouths even if I heard it all the time.

"What are y'all coloring?" I asked looking at their artwork remembering doing the same at their age but it was still in a small two bedroom apartment in Harlem until she was about ten years old.

"A guy skateboarding" Tez smiled with pride; making my heart warm at his pure happiness that hadn't been tanted yet.

"You as a beautiful Queen" Phina smiled with a bright glow in her eyes from the same type of happiness.

"Thank you Seraphina, and Cortez I've got a question for you" I stated with a smile to match theirs.

"What is it, Inati?" He asked curiously looking up at me with big curious eyes that made me smile.

"Do you want to learn how to skateboard?" I asked smiling knowing what his answer would be before I even asked it.

"That would be awesome!" He exclaimed throwing his hands and in turn the crayon he was holding in the air.

"And, Phina, I was wondering if you wanted to learn ballet?" I asked her with a smile as I watched the crayon clatter against the floor next to the fridge and break in half.

"Did you do ballet?" Phina asked cocking her head at me like she always did when she was curious about something.

"Your Inati was a beautiful ballet dancer, and she did it for a long time, that is until she took up skateboarding and motocross" my mom answered, even though I couldn't see it, I knew there was a smile.
