Alistair's pov
I walked through the drab auditorium whilst taking a glance at the many antiques. The regrets grew larger and larger as I entered silently.
"You're late." A rough voice uttered. "By 5 minutes."
The room would've been completely dark if it weren't for the morsel light that trespassed the curtains. The room was sumptuous, even down to the floor. No matter how many times I was here I felt as though I was Izara whose eyes looked as if they would pop out by even a grain of gold.
"It was Izara, she cried because she didn't want me to leave," I answered.
The thought of Izara warming up to me pleased me. All she had needed was a bit of time away from those rats. Children were new to the world, the younger the better, the more they needed to rely on people. All I had to do was remove all those people from her life so then she'd have no choice but to rely on me.
"Why couldn't Brianne deal with it?" He turned to face me.
"Brianne?" I asked.
She was the last person I wanted to hear about. I had loved her, cherished her, given her everything. But she was still not satisfied.
"Why, yes, do you expect me to entrust her with you? Werewolves need their mothers, why do you think that you shifted late?"
"What do you mean by 'you shifted late.'? I was the first out of the people my age to shift." I said.
"Whatever, go make me some tea." He grumbled as I walked over to the counter. He was rarely happy. Seeing him smile was like a giraffe being short.
Who in their right mind would ask someone to make tea in the dark?
It would never happen.
"What's happening with the child, I've heard bad things from Charles." He asked.
"Oh, you know as usual how he never knows what he is talking about," I replied.
I was going to kill that jerk. I thought to myself.
Just because things didn't go his way he had to just tell him. All he can do is go back to him and get me in trouble.
"So you're sure she is settling in well?" He asked.
"Yes," I responded.
"Really? I wouldn't say that according to her math results on her test."
"Just trust me, I know what I am doing." I get the kettle and pour in the hot water after I have put in the tea bag in the teacup.
"I'm telling you that she needs Brianne." He replied. "Either you bring her to the pack house or I will."
"Why? It's not necessary." I said as I carried the tea towards him.
"Thanks," he said taking a sip. Only the bitterest of souls could endure a bitter concoction like that. "But Alistair, it will also be good for you. Remember how much you cried when she escaped? It was the only time I ever saw you cry."
"And that's why I don't want to have anything to do with her," I replied. "She ruined me and wasn't even able to think rationally for a second." I was going to sit in the chair opposite before he grabbed my arm.
"Stay." He ordered.
His eyes pierced into my soul.
"Izara is special, whether you think she will shift or not you will do exactly as I say."
"No, I'm not listening to you anymore," I said. "You made me beat her when she did things wrong. The reason she is upset is because of you."
Those minute tears that flowed from Izara's eyes hurt as much as she was hurt.
