A/N: The kitchen and living room are joint.

I kicked off my shoes and hurriedly ran to my room. The journey back home was silent. Mum told Gloria off for buying so much make-up as well as Rufus for buying trainers and new clothes. I was in the biggest trouble. Firstly for running away, secondly for talking to Alistair because he was a stranger and thirdly for eating so much at the cafe. My weakness was food so what? I couldn't stop myself because other people didn't like the fact I had a big appetite.

I just wanted to be by myself.

"Izara!" Mummy called. "Izara!" I heard muffled footsteps.

"Go away!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face.

She entered the room.

"Oh, baby," she said. "Come, here."

"I'm not a baby," I said while approaching her.
"Why are you acting so strange?"

"Come." I sat next to her on the bed. "Alistair and I were friends." She said. "We had an argument and we haven't talked since. Alistair is just a part of the past and I don't want to remember him. Promise me you will be careful around him." Her eyes were fixed on me as she was in a trance. "I love you so much." She said as her body darted forward and enveloped me in a warm hug.

"Even though you are annoying mummy, I love you, too." She smiled.

"I have realised that I spend too much time with your step-siblings that I have forgotten you." She kissed me on the cheek. "Maybe tomorrow we have a day to ourselves." I nodded, it was the one thing I could agree we needed. She was too worried about my step siblings thinking that she wouldn't love them anymore because of me. Likewise, Daddy was worried that I would think that he wouldn't love me because I wasn't his biological child which was why they kind of forgot that it is about keeping balance. "For now, get ready for bed."

"But I haven't even had dinner." I reminded her.

"You're eating too much that your clothes aren't fitting properly. Plus, you ate so much at the cafe." I groaned in annoyance. I stomped to the bathroom and did as she said.

Way to ruin the moment, I thought to myself.

I didn't brush my teeth because I was too lazy. It took a lot out of me from that one outing. I walked out of the bathroom to find mummy who was standing outside.

"Teeth." She simply said. I sluggishly walked back into the bathroom. Once finished, Mummy read me a story before closing the lights.

There was one problem.

I couldn't sleep. What could have happened between Mummy and Alistair?

Mummy was very sensitive. The littlest things can make her cry and she can become angry very quickly. She cries when she hurts someone or at the sight of someone injuring someone else. Like when I hit Gloria one time because she took my pastry. I sometimes wake up to mummy randomly crying. I ask her why but she never really likes to say. It always ends up with Daddy telling me to go to bed. She is also very susceptible to panic attacks. When she has them Daddy normally wakes up and calms her down. The more I think back to us buying all the stuff with Alistair, I realise that everyone stared at him like he was someone important. As if they knew who he was. It had to be because owned the mall but still, I couldn't remove that nibbling feeling things were not right. My thoughts were put to a stop as the door creaked open.

"Hey," Rufus whispered. "I got this for you." He held a pretzel made of bread. He put it in a brown paper bag and threw it to me. "Got to go, Mum's coming to check up on you." The next second Mummy came with Daddy into the room. There wasn't enough time for me to turn the other way like I usually did so instead I closed my eyes hoping that I wouldn't get caught. I luckily had hidden the pretzel under the duvet.
