Sorry...spoilers...ignore until end...
Liddan slid his coat on and then his shoes gruffly. Marigold washed the dishes and turned to him with a risen eyebrow. He walked to the door, wrapping his neck with the scarf Sylvie had given him not long ago.
"Where are you headed to?" Marigold said with a puckered cheek.
"The pub," Liddan said with a flick of the wrist, scarf falling nearly perfectly over his shoulder with the swift and quick motion.
"Why so suddenly?" Marigold glances at the clock, it wasn't too late, but it looked as if it were midnight outside. Snow fell onto the ground, which meant only rain for the garden thanks to Liddan's magic.
"I just felt like getting a drink, that's all," Liddan said, brushing his hair back with a yawn.
"Don't come back drunk. I'll lock you outside." Marigold said with a teasing smile.
"Yeah, yeah," Liddan said, brushing off the comment with a soft laugh.
"You know, I feel like you'll be that one dad who goes off to the pub every once and awhile and e comes back drunk and stuff."
"Oh, where's this going..."
"And then your wife'll be like--" Marigold clears her throat and croaks an awful old woman's voice. "Well lookie here!"
"Wow, I hope I don't marry a woman with that voice..."
"Drunk again...hermm...?" Marigold wrinkles her face up. "Well, I hope you ain't expectin' any sugar from me. You ain't lickin' this icing, sir!"
"Wow, that's horrible," Liddan said, holding in a laugh.
"Oh! And your wife will lock you out and you'll be banging on your kid's window." Marigold prepares for her next impersonation, this time her opinion of how Liddan sounds as a drunk. "Kids! Open the window! Yer mom locked me out again!"
Liddan covers his mouth as he laughs.
"But mummy told us not to let you in, daddy!" Marigold said with a shrill childish voice. "Daddy! Please don't cry!"
"I refuse, I refuse to be that father," Liddan said firmly, wondering how he managed to even have children with British accents in this scenario.
"Yeah? Well, marry a woman who'll take care of you." Marigold said with a grin. "Not lock you out of the house when you need in the most."
Liddan glanced at Marigold with a soft smile and hopeful eyes. "I plan to."
Liddan opened the door and waved goodbye. Shutting it behind him, Marigold stood alone before her kitchen sink.
She set the bowl she was washing back in the warm dishwater and just stared at the blank wall in front of her. Lost in thought.
She shook her head and went back to washing the pots and pans, leaving the thought behind.
One Year Ago
It was burning hot on the boat, and Liddan laid flat on his back staring at the sun. Panting like a dog, he groaned and turned over.
"IT'S SO HOT!!!" He groaned.
"Tell me about it." Gideon sighed, leaning his back against the leg of a chair.
"You know, the idea of the chair...is to sit in it," Nashi said to Gideon with crossed arms. She was wearing nothing but a bikini, as were most of the girls on the ship. Even Lucy was wearing a bikini as she patted Natsu's back while he threw up over the side of the ship.
