Ellabentra soared through the night sky, the wind blowing in her face, the moon against her white wings. She gave a fierce look as she flied. She hadn't been out of Heaven for sometime, and she'd hoped that Marigold could do without her for the time being. As for the children in Heaven.
She earth below her was barren, free of life for generations. Nothing but dry, dusty, land that no one called home. Mountains dug up from the ground, springing into the sky with now warning.
Ellabentra soars past them, looking for the shadow that she'd come to see.
Peering off at a cliff, she sets her course and lands safely on its edge.
There she met a tall man, who sat on a boulder whittling with a knife and a thick piece of wood.
She greeted the man. "Lucard."
"Don't get so excited, Ellabentra." he said with a smirk.
"Are you interfering with yet another child's life?" Ellabentra said firmly.
"How is what I do any different from what you do?" Lucard said, setting his knife down, he grasps his wood in his hand. He'd turned it into a whistle, more along the lines of a flute.
"I'm not forcing Marigold to do anything." Ellabentra said firmly.
"And neither am I with the people I choose." Lucard licks the mouth piece of his flute, and blows into it. "It sounds a tad bit flat, wouldn't you say."
"Who are you interfering with, tell me." Ellabentra said with a scowl.
"Didn't think an angel could get so angry."
"Didn't think a demon could be so foolhardy."
Lucard turns to Ellabentra smiles. "The word demon deprives from the word demos. Do you know what demos means?" Lucard gestures his hand to Ellabentra, as if awaiting her answer. Reacting to her silence, he shrugs and declares. "Demos means people."
"Your point?"
"Well, I could make two points here. I could bring the point that the real demon is 'the people'. Or...I could say that demons are just people. Just regular people who live regular lives."
"And kill, and torture, and plunder--" Ellabentra gives a sarcastic grin. "Shall I go on."
"Oh please do! I'm sure humans haven't done any of that--"
"Oh shut up Lucard." Ellabentra said rolling her eyes. "The humans are new to the world, we can only let them grow. Serving as parents to them, nurturing them until they can go on their own."
"Nurture? Ellie, darling, you may have your little Heaven and all. And your litter of the kittens is pretty cute, and sweet and all, but what about the rest?" Lucard points at the ruins of the world around them. "We meet here for a reason. It's because of what you did."
He points his finger at Ellabentra and smiles. "The angels are dying because of you."
Ellabentra turns her head. "Do you think I've failed to realize that?"
"Lucky thing you take forever to die." Lucard said, putting his lips to his flute. He blows into it and plays a melody.
"Lucard, I want to know who he is." Ellabentra said firmly. "Who are you manipulating?"
"Just a boy." Lucard said, setting the flute down. "Shame really, this girl keeps messing things up for me."
"Who, is he..." Ellabentra bites her lip, trying to restrain herself.
"You hate it don't you." Lucard turns to Ellabentra and smiles. "You know everything. Every bit of history a person has ever lived, except for a few things, right?"
