Stepping out of the hospital-like room, Silver Wolf let her eyes adjust to the dim light of the corridor. She could feel the weight of Fukuzawa's gaze on her as she walked, a silent reminder of the decision she had just made. Joining the Armed Detective Agency was a significant step, one that would undoubtedly change the course of her life forever.
As she made her way down the corridor, Silver Wolf couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides. She had spent so long operating alone, relying on her own instincts, abilities, and virtual partners (they're kinda hilarious sometimes, annoying too), to navigate inside this world, through the criminals underworld. Now, she was part of a team, a thought that excited her, yet terrified (which she won't admit, at least not aloud) in the equal measure.
Lost in her thoughts, she nearly collided with a figure rounding the corner. She quickly stepped aside, her senses on high alert as she assessed the newcomer. It was a young man (about 18 perhaps?) with a weird-cut white hair and golden-purple eyes, his expression a mixture of surprise and curiosity.
"Sorry about that," the boy said, offering her a sheepish smile. "I didn't see you there."
Silver Wolf nodded curtly, her guard still up as she studied the stranger. She could sense no immediate threat from him, but years of living on the edge had taught her to trust her instincts above all else.
"I'm Nakajima Atsushi. Just call me Atsushi." The boy introduced himself, extending a hand in greeting, "You must be the new member of the Agency!"
Silver Wolf eyed Atsushi warily for a moment before tentatively reaching out to shake his hand. "Silver Wolf," she replied, her voice measured. "Just call me Silver Wolf."
Atsushi's smile widened at her response, and Silver Wolf couldn't help but notice the genuine warmth in his eyes. Despite her initial reservations, there was something about Atsushi that put her at ease, a sense of kindness and sincerity that was hard to ignore.
"It's nice to meet you, Silver Wolf," Atsushi said, his tone friendly. "Welcome to the Agency. I'm sure you'll fit right in."
Silver Wolf offered him a small nod in response, her mind still reeling from the whirlwind of emotions that had accompanied her decision to join the Agency. She had never been one for small talk or idle chitchat, preferring to keep to herself and focus on the task at hand. But there was something about Atsushi's easygoing demeanor that made her want to open up, to let down her guard and allow herself to trust him, if only for a moment.
"Thank you," she said finally, her voice softer than before. "I appreciate the welcome."
Atsushi nodded, his smile widening even further. "Anytime," he replied, his tone cheerful. "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask. We're all here to support each other, after all."
Silver Wolf nodded in acknowledgment, her mind already racing with thoughts of the challenges and adventures that lay ahead. She knew that joining the Armed Detective Agency would be no easy task, but she was determined to prove herself and show that she was more than capable of holding her own in this new world.
As she continued down the corridor, Silver Wolf couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within her. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she was part of something bigger than herself, a team of individuals united by a common goal and a shared sense of purpose.
She stopped on her track suddenly, and her tendency to be a loner rose up, arguing with her decision. She knew that doing this meant to throw away her freedom that she was so proud of having.
But as she stood there, grappling with her inner conflict, Silver Wolf couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps this was exactly what she needed. For too long, she had been wandering the shadows alone, her only companions the digital echoes of her virtual partners. The idea of being part of a team, of having people she could rely on and trust, was both terrifying and strangely appealing.
Taking a deep breath, Silver Wolf pushed aside her doubts and fears, reminding herself of the reasons she had made this decision in the first place. She craved a sense of purpose, a direction to channel her skills and abilities towards something greater than herself. And despite the uncertainties that lay ahead, she knew that the Armed Detective Agency offered her exactly that.
With renewed determination, Silver Wolf continued down the corridor, her steps steady and sure. She was ready to embrace this new chapter of her life, to face whatever challenges came her way with courage and resolve. And with Atsushi's friendly words still echoing in her mind, she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, she had finally found where she belonged.
I can still leave whenever I want to.
No one can make me stay.
And no one can make me leave if I don't want to.
I'll just have to give this a try.
And just maybe, I'll find entertainment here.
