The entire mansion was surrounded by police in a matter of minutes. The news of the abduction of the newly announced heir was spreading. Everyone was on edge.
"Sir, we are doing everything we can..." Saint began but was soon cut off.
"I get that. But I would like to talk to Freen." Mr. Armstrong said as calm as ever.
"Mr. Armstrong.."
"I don't care if you are the captain, I want to talk to my daughter in law. And I'm pretty sure you can't stop me from doing that." He said a little irritated.
"Please.." Saint let him inside the surveillance room where freen was currently looking over the footage of the event hoping to find something.
"Freen!" He called as soon as he spotted her.
Freen looked up, hearing his voice
"Mr. Armstrong."
"I'm sure we are way past formalities the moment my daughter married you. Call me Robert or Dad. Whichever you prefer."
All she could do was nod. As soon as she found out Becky was taken, she lost it. She became an emotional mess. But her best friend, Heng, told her to pull it together, that she was the best of them and if someone could find Becky it's her. That's exactly what she did. She pushed her emotions aside, and she pushed the thought of her wife being in danger aside and started to treat it like any other case. But now stood before her the very reminder of who becky is.
"How did this happen?" He asked.
"We found her phone at the scene. There was a message on her phone, apparently from me asking her to meet me there. But it wasn't me. My phone is missing. He must have somehow taken it." She explained as calmly as she could.
"Is it the same person she's been helping the police to catch?"
"We think so."
"What are you going to do?" That was the question she wasn't ready for. And she lost it again. What can she do? Her wife, the mother of her child, was in danger. How was she suppossed to handle this?
"Honestly? I have no fucking idea. None of this makes sense. The security is tight, everything and everyone here is under constant surveillance. So how the hell did he managed to come in here let alone attack and abduct her?" She started pacing back and forth, trying to think of something.
"Getting frustrated is not going to help anyone here. He somehow managed to do all of that. And now it's your job to find out the how. I'm pretty sure you are capable of doing that."
She stopped in her tracks and looked at him. There was something in his eyes that calmed her. A wave of understanding perhaps and she could see the trust in him. Becky wasn't just her wife, she was his daughter too. All of them are counting on her. She needs to find a way.
"The event was strictly confidential right? Who else knew?" She asked.
"Close family, Staff, the security team." He replied.
"That is a lot of people. Even if we try to interrogate each one of them we wouldn't get anywhere in time."
The silence stretches for a while.
"Can you think of anything that happened in the past two weeks that is important for me to look into? Anything out of the ordinary?"
He thought about it, as if he suddenly remembered something, his whole face lit up.
"There were new recruits to the security team. I remember the head of security mentioning it. I must have forgotten in all the chaos."
"That's it. The perfect disguise to access the mansion, remove the CCTV camera and leave with her. Do you have the details of the new recruits?" Finally they had a lead. A starting point.
