Freen was pacing outside the ER, thinking of everything and nothing at the same time. She was incredibly overwhelmed and had no idea what to do. There was nothing she could actively do to fix the situation, and that felt like hell to her.

Her mind started to wander to slightly darker places for a second, and she tried to think about what she would do if Becky didn't make it.

She closed her eyes and tried to imagine what life would be like without her around to wake up to or to stay up to hold her in the middle of the night when she had nightmares. Her mind wandered further to imagine what it'd feel like to raise their child without becky in an empty and quiet house and an overwhelming feeling of guilt mixed with grief took over her so badly she couldn't breathe and started to whimper and shake without realizing.

Suddenly she heard a voice calling her name. At first it was distant and she couldn't really tell who it was from, but after a while she realized it was the doctor.

"She is extremely lucky. There was no lasting damage to any of her internal organs. She will make a full recovery."

A wave of relief passed over her.

"Freen?" Someone called her.

She tried to reply but her voice didn't come. She was stuck in that dream even though she knew Becky was alright. It was terrifying. A hand on her shoulders brought her back to reality.

"You did it. You brought her home." It was becky's dad. She did. She brought her home.

Her gaze fell on a distant figure. It was William. He was finally calm. She could feel that the man no longer had tension.

"I can't take all the credit." She said her gaze still on him.

"William?" He asked as he followed her gaze.

"Mhmm."

"Hey!" She said, walking up to William.

"Hi!" He replied, smiling. Even his smile was different now. More open, reaching his eyes.

"We did make a pretty good team."

"You should be happy." He said, still sensing some worry in freen.

"I'm happy. Like I have never been before." She said, leaning against the wall.

"Me too."

There was a long lingering silence as they both recalled the events.

"I guess I owe you a conversation." He spoke.

"Huh?"

"About me and becky."

"No. You don't owe me anything."

"I don't want there to be any misunderstanding between you two." She appreciated the thought even though she wasn't worried about the said matter.

"There is none. I know Becky, unlike anyone else. If there's anything I should know about you two, I'm sure she will tell me. And I want to give her that option."

She truly believed that. This was a conversation they needed to have and not him.

"Fair enough. Well, I'm off then. Duty calls."

"Alright. See you around."

Soon, she was joined by Heng, who immediately enveloped her in a bone crushing hug.

"Hey! I heard the good news."

"Yeah. I'm relieved." She said, pulling away.

"Me too. I didn't want you to be a single grumpy mother."
