season 4, episode 1
athena woke up to mark drawing random shapes on her hip. he presses a soft kiss to her head before mumbling a sleeping good morning, athena returns the greeting and grins up at him. mark raises his eyebrows at her with a soft look on his face. "what?"
"it's new intern day." mark sighs deeply. he hates interns. "i can't wait to meet them." mark just lays next to his girlfriend, looking at her with so much love as she rambled on about interns and finally being a resident. "i can't wait to boss someone around." mark snorts out in laughter as athena's mood completely shifts. athena grins at him again before smacking his shoulder and forcing him to get up so they could eat breakfast. she's just too excited she can't lay in bed any longer.
athena walks up to the locker room. not the intern's locker room. the resident's locker room. she still can't believe it. she walks into the locker room with a huge grin on her face. her group of friends turn to her as they heard footsteps, all of them rolling their eyes fondly at the ball of sunshine that just walked through the door. "hey, nia. why didn't you tell us your sister was coming here instead of staying in england?" athena pauses mid-sip of her coffee, her eyes widening slightly.
"i'm sorry, what did you just say? 'cause there's no way you just said my little sister was here. in seattle. with me." her friends look at her with many looks of confusion before silently turning back to their new cubbies. athena sends daggers to the back's of all of their heads before claiming a cubby and getting changed.
the time had finally come, athena had been talking mark's ear off about her interns since she passed the exams and now, she get's to meet them. athena has already decided the kind of resident and the kind of teacher she wants to be, she just hopes she can pull it off and make dr. bailey proud of her. she stands at a nurse's station talking to tyler and a few other nurses, her and tyler had always been friends but recently they have become much closer with each other. tyler taps her on the shoulder to grab her attention from the conversation she was currently having and points to five interns, all of which look like they're about to cry. athena smiles gently at them. "hi! are you my interns?" they all look at her for a moment before clearing their throats and nodding. "great! my names athena thomas and i'm so excited to be teaching you guys this year. i do have a couple rules, i don't ask much of you guys just that you stick to these rules, if you do that then we will get on very well. before we get started could you tell me all your names?"
the first intern to speak up is a fairly tall redhead, she speaks shyly but athena reckons she has potential. "alison. um, alison lawrence." she smiles shyly at athena, who is quick to return it.
