4 | waffle fries and sauce

A few days had passed since Serena had met Sam and Colby and felt as if could consider them as her good friends. They had been hanging out almost everyday.

Sam was like an older brother she never had and Colby. Well that's where she was confused. She didn't know what to make of Colby. Sure they flirted for fun sometimes, but overtime he did that she got a weird feeling in her stomach that she couldn't explain.

Now here they are a week before going to the conjuring house, they were driving to chick-fil-a to get lunch. Colby was driving as Sam sat in the passenger seat and Serena in the back seat.

They stopped in the line of the drive thru and waited for their turn. "Serena what'd you wanna get?" Sam asked. "I'll get the waffle fries with the chick-fil-a sauce please." Sam nodded and repeated her order to the person.

After another five minutes their order was ready. Sam handed her the fries and she took a bite from one sighing immediately. "These are so fucking good!" She moaned.

Colby choked on his chicken sandwich hearing her. "You good man?" Sam asked patting his back. "Yea I'm good." He wheezed taking a gulp of water from the bottle in the car. "I'm good." He repeated. His eyes caught hers in the mirror and they looked a few shades darker like an ocean blue.

"Colby did you know that your eyes turn darker sometimes like an ocean blue?" Serena asked him oblivious to the reason why.

"Do they now?" He asked playing along. "Yep." She tore open the sauce before dipping a fry in it. Sam looked at the two of them amused knowing something they both didn't.

"So the conjuring house." Sam started bringing up the elephant in the room well in this case the car.

Colby finished chewing. "What about it?" He asked. "You do remember what happened last time right?" Sam asked. Colby visibly shuddered thinking about it. "Wait tell me what happened?" Serena looked between the two boys.
Well the last time we went there, we got locked in the basement and the door wouldn't open. I also felt a really negative energy following us around."

Serena gulped and nodded not wanting to show her wariness.

Colby having sensed her emotions reassured her. "Don't worry, nothing will happen to you as long as we're there." Serena nodded appreciatively.

"When do we leave?" She asked trying to clear the mood. "I'm a month, I guess." Sam answered. "Okay cool. Do we like carry food along with us?" She asked. "I guess we'll carry some in case we aren't able to get any around there."

"Our flight's at six in the morning, on the fifth cause that's the only one going to Rhode island on that day." Sam added. "Oh gee I can't wake up early for the life of me." Serena groaned. "You can sleep on the plane, it's like a five hour flight." Colby suggested. Serena found herself nodding along to it.

"One of us can pick you up at like four if that's fine with you." Sam turned around in his seat to look at her expression.

"Yeah sure. Just call or text me beforehand so I know when to wake." Serena fiddles with her rings. Colby taking a note of this grabs her hand to examine the rings. "Pretty good collection you've got here." He smiles at her. "Thanks."

"Guys back to the topic. Serena, once again if you feel uncomfortable at any point don't hesitate to let us know alright? We've been doing this for a long time now so we're used to it." Serena thought it was sweet how Sam was protective of her in a brotherly way.

"Okay." She whispered getting awkward all of a sudden.

"Boy am I scared when larri gets there." Colby whistled trying to defuse the awkward energy. "He'll probably accidentally twerk on one of the spirits." Serena pointed out which caused Sam to chuckle.

"Eli too you know they're too sassy for their own good." Sam added.

"I know right! I still can't believe how I deal with him everyday. Just the day that I came over for the first time I found him wandering in my apartment at like five in the morning and it scared the shit out of me."

"Holy shit now way!" Colby laughed imagining how scared the girl must've been.

Serena checked the time on her watch. It was almost three in the afternoon. "Hey Cole, do you mind dropping me off on your way home?"

"Yeah sure I just have to drop Sam off too. He wants to get some new camera lights." She saw the store sign as he finished speaking. The car stopped near the door and Sam got out of the car.

"See you later bro." Sam and Colby did a handshake and he gave Serena a small hug as she too got out of the car to get into the passenger seat.

"Your passenger princess has arrived." She spoke in a posh accent making Colby chuckle.

"Where to my princess?" He winked. Serenely swore she felt a heart attack coming on. Hey god me again, if this is a sign that my time is up please don't let it be embarrassing as death by a wink. Thanks.

She cleared her throat awkwardly "home would do." She smiled at him as the dark haired boy started the car yet again.

Serene connected her phone to the aux and played summertime by yung pleit as Colby drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. "So what's the plan when you get home?" Colby asked peeking at Serene from the corner of his eye.

"I might get some writing done, been a while since I've written something." She admitted. "What about you?" Colby set the indicator to right as he took the turn. "Me? I don't know I've got nothing on my agenda so I'll just chill I guess?" He seemed unsure of his answer.

"Well you could always come on over at my place." Serena suggested. Why the fuck did I say that? That sounds like I want to hookup. Which I don't. Right?

"Why not, I enjoy your company."

"Cool." Was all she could come up with and mentally scolded herself. Cool? Who says cool? Apparently you dumbass.

"Here we are." Colby parked the car in the visitors parking lot and turned the car off.

Hi it's me again. Well I know for sure that I'm going to fail my chem final knowing that I can't study for the life of me. Anywho here's another chapter for y'all.
