Luke

As Luke made his way through the forest towards the beach, his mind was consumed with thoughts of his mission, the weight of his responsibilities pressing heavily on his shoulders. He knew that sooner or later, he would have to confront his destiny, but it felt like everything was moving too fast. He had said goodbye to Annabeth, Percy, and Grover earlier that morning when they had set out on their quest.

The forest thinned, giving way to the sandy dunes of the beach, and Luke's stride slowed as the sight of Andromeda caught his eye. She sat near a small fire, her form still against the backdrop of the crashing waves. The golden hues of the sunset bathed her in soft light, the sky ablaze in fiery reds and soft purples. She was stretched out on a blanket, reading, the pages of her book illuminated by the flickering glow of the flames.

Luke hesitated for a moment, lingering at the edge of the trees. She looked so peaceful, a contrast to the chaos roiling inside him. He hadn't expected to see her here, and for a brief second, he felt his burdens lighten just by watching her, the steady rhythm of the sea reflecting the calm he craved.

As Luke approached, Andromeda looked up from her book, a smile lighting up her face when she saw him.

"Hey, Luke," she called out, her voice carrying across the sand. "What brings you out here?"

"Just needed a break," he replied, standing over her. She looked up at him through her eyelashes and he felt a rush of blood in his cheeks. "Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all." She scooted over, patting the space beside her. "I've just been enjoying the sunset. It's beautiful tonight, isn't it?"

He sat next to her, feeling the warmth of the fire mixing with the cooling air of evening. "Yeah," he said, glancing out at the horizon. The ocean stretched endlessly, the waves catching the fading light, turning gold before crashing into dark foam. "It is."

For a few moments, they sat in silence, the kind that felt easy, natural. Luke let the quiet settle in his chest, pushing back the gnawing thoughts about destiny and betrayal that had been plaguing him all day. With Andromeda, there was a sense of normalcy that he hadn't felt in a long time.

His eyes drifted to the book in her hands. "What are you reading?"

Andromeda's expression shifted, subtle but enough for Luke to notice. She hesitated, then casually slid the book farther away, tucking it partially under the blanket. "Just something boring," she said with a shrug, but there was a tightness in her voice. She didn't meet his gaze.
