Andromeda
Andromeda didn't waste a second. She bolted toward the Big House, her heart pounding in her chest. As she approached, she saw Grover and Annabeth surrounded by a throng of campers, all eagerly peppering them with questions about their quest and the looming war.
Ignoring the noise and chaos, Andromeda pushed her way through the crowd until she reached Annabeth. Without a word, she pulled her into a fierce hug. Annabeth, slightly taken aback, returned the hug just as tightly.
"Thank the gods you're back," Andromeda whispered, her voice choked with emotion.
Annabeth squeezed her tightly before pulling back. She looked into Andromeda's eyes, and Andromeda immediately noticed the change. Gone was the shadow of doubt, the uncertainty that had followed her before she'd left on the quest. What had replaced it was something else—something harder, more focused, like steel sharpened in fire. She looked so grown up, so different from the girl who had left on the quest.
"We made it," Annabeth said softly, her voice carrying a mixture of relief and determination. "But we need to talk. You, me, and Luke."
Andromeda nodded, her heart still racing. "Of course. Let's find him."
They made their way through the crowd, with Andromeda leading Annabeth by the hand. Grover was being bombarded with questions, but he gave them a nod and a reassuring smile. She took Annabeth's hand, leading her away from the noise and crush of bodies, her eyes already scanning for Luke. He wouldn't be far. And then she saw him—standing at the edge of the group, his gaze searching, until it landed on her. There was an unspoken question in his eyes, and she answered with a single look.
He moved through the crowd toward them, a flash of something like relief in his expression as he caught sight of Annabeth. Without a word, Luke pulled Annabeth into a hug, spinning her off her feet in a rare burst of joy.
"Annie," Luke said, his voice warm, the weight of the past few days lifting just for a moment. Annabeth, despite everything, couldn't help but grin, clinging to him like she needed the solidness of it, the normalcy. Andromeda had always thought that Annabeth had a secret thing for Luke, but she was just twelve, a harmless childhood crush.
"Annabeth needs to talk to us," Andromeda said urgently.
Luke set Annabeth down, his face turning serious as he looked between the two girls. He gave a single nod. "Let's find somewhere quieter."
The three of them broke away from the camp, heading toward the edge of the forest where the shadows grew long and the buzz of the crowd faded into the background. Andromeda's thoughts raced. What had happened? Was Percy safe? Would there be war?
