Two weeks ago was my parents' funeral. They weren't even 50 yet. I came home from my friend Gabriella's house. I had such a good night with her. I broke up with my boyfriend the day before because I caught him cheating on me. I actually waked in on him fucking another girl. I didn't cry,I didn't scream. All I said to him was "I deserve better than you." and walked out.
I was sad, but it was the truth. I've always had a hard time fully committing to someone anyway. I went to Gabriella's house the next night just to clear my head. We drank a little bit, played some video games, and decided to binge watch yellowstone. We only got through 5 episodes when I decided I was too tired and I would walk home.
It was 3AM, but we live in a smaller town so I wasn't scared. Besides, she only lived two streets down from me. Like I said, it was a small town. I walked home and when I got to my house I stopped for a second because I thought I heard a gunshot. I started to walk closer to the house when two giant guys walked out with guns in their hands.
I immediately ran back to hide behind a tree and got out my phone to call 911. The police and ambulance got there as fast as they could, but my parents were called lying in my arms. I knew they were gone and there was nothing I could do about it.
"Excuse me miss, we just have to ask you a few questions." The police officer pulled me out of my thoughts. I didn't want to answer questions, I just wanted to bring my parents back to me. He continued on even though I didn't answer him. "Can you describe what happened tonight?" I told the police officer what happened and around what time everything happened.
"Just one more question for you and I'll leave you alone. Can you describe what the gunsman looked like?" I could remember every detail about them. "One had shoulder length dirty blonde hair and a mustache. He was wearing a black shirt with jeans and boots on. The other one had dark short hair with the same outfit on. Oh and they both had a star tattoo on their wrist. Probably a gang tattoo or something." "Thank you miss, we'll be in touch with you."
I sat there freezing cold. I didn't have a jacket on just my short shorts, a tank top and no bra. I was ready for bed, but I couldn't go back into that house. Not with the blood everywhere. I needed a shower so bad. I couldn't move even though I was frozen. Soon Gabriella came and her brother. She can't drive yet, so I assume she asked him to come here.
We never really talked much, but when we did he would just be hard on me or mean. I was still frozen in my place. I couldn't talk, I couldn't walk. I could hear what she was saying, but not fully. I thought to myself January 21st was the worst day of my life. All I remember was Jack, her brother, picking me up bridal style and putting me in the back of the car.
Now here I am three weeks after their death, living with my bestfriend and her family. They still haven't caught the guys who did this and I haven't moved out of the bed they let me sleep in
