"Sir, I know it sounds unbelievable, but I'm telling the truth," Zarc sighed. "Someone left four babies on my doorstep with a note saying that they cloned me and didn't want to take care of the babies. No, I don't know who it was. Yes, I can send a photo of the note and the babies, hold on."

He used his phone to take two photos, one of the note and one of the babies, and sent the photos to his boss, who he was currently talking to on the phone. After a moment, he heard his boss sigh.

"Look, I'll give you the day off to figure out what to do with them," his boss said. "But I expect to see you back at work tomorrow morning!"

"Yes, sir," Zarc sighed. As he hung up he looked at the babies. He didn't really know what to do with them. He did plan to keep them, but they didn't have any birth certificates or other identification documents, at least none that he was aware of. If they really were clones of him, then they probably weren't registered in a hospital. "What am I going to do?"

"Well, whoever cloned you without your consent needs to face the consequences of their actions," Starve Venom said. "I mean the kiddos are adorable, but the person who made them should have asked for permission first!"

"Yeah! There's gotta be some kind of law against that!" Dark Rebellion said. "Right?!"

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out," Zarc said. He stood up and picked up the basket, being careful not to jostle the babies inside.

"What are you going to do?" Clear Wing asked. Zarc started for the door. "I'm going to the police to see if there's anything they can do about the person who cloned me, and see if I can get legal documents for the babies."

The trip to the police station may have been more of a hassle than it was worth. At first the police didn't believe Zarc when he told them that some lunatic had cloned him and left baby clones on his doorstep. But once he managed to convince them to do a DNA test, it was confirmed. The babies' DNA was identical to Zarc's in every way. Zarc wondered why their hair and eye colors were different from his, but that wasn't the most pressing concern.

Once the police realized that Zarc was telling the truth, they started taking the matter seriously. Cloning humans was very much illegal, especially when it was done without the consent of the person being cloned. The police promised to look into the matter (somehow Zarc was doubtful), and offered to take the babies to an orphanage.

"No, I'm not going to just abandon them," Zarc said, annoyed. "But they don't have any legal documents like birth certificates or Identification Numbers or anything like that as far as I know."

"Well, we'll see what we can do about that," said the officer that he was talking to. "Here, leave us your phone number and address, and we'll get back to you with an answer."

All in all, it was just an all-around nightmare in general. And to make matters worse, the babies woke up and started wailing on the way home. Which made Zarc realize that he had no baby supplies to take care of them. He had to turn his car around and head to the nearest grocery store.

"Just get diapers, wipes, baby formula, and bottles for now," Odd-Eyes suggested. "And pacifiers. You can properly go baby shopping once they're fed and changed."

It was good advice, so Zarc just grabbed the suggested supplies and returned home. The dragons tried to comfort the babies, but they continued to cry the whole time. They didn't seem to need their diapers changed, which probably meant that they were hungry. As soon as Zarc arrived home, he rushed to make the formula for them.

The assumption that the babies were hungry turned out to be correct. The dragons fed them, and the tiny clones eagerly guzzled down the milk. Zarc relaxed a bit, knowing that he wasn't going to have to raise his new children alone. He had his dragons to help him.
