First Words

Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo may not have been early bloomers when it came to walking and crawling, but all four of the kids appeared to be pretty intelligent. Zarc could see it in their eyes, they were smart babies. Of course they were! They were his kids. That made them naturally intelligent!

But he didn't realize just how intelligent his kids were until they were ten months old. He was making a grocery list in the kitchen, with the dragons playing with the babies nearby.

"Ok, so we need baby food, cereal, pasta, coffee, milk, eggs, salt, lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, eggplant, cheese, apples, bananas, strawberries, bread, sandwich meat, and tomatoes," Zarc said, writing the list down.

The kids were watching Zarc intently. After a moment, Yuri opened his mouth. "C... c..."

Starve Venom gasped. "Is he trying to say his first word?"

"C...cab...bage..." Yuri's first word was cabbage. It made sense to Starve Venom, as the little one's hair looked like a cabbage.

Before Zarc or his dragons could celebrate, Yuto opened his mouth. "E...egg...plant..."

"Oh my goodness!" Dark Rebellion's eyes were shining. "Two first words!"

Then Yugo opened his mouth. "B...b...b..." Zarc and his dragons watched, eyes wide. "B...a...na...na..."

Now they looked at Yuya, wondering if he would say his first word too. After a moment, he opened his mouth. "T...to...om...a...to..."

"Cabbage, eggplant, banana, and tomato..." Odd-Eyes murmured breathlessly. "The perfect first words for them!"

"I can't believe they all just said their first words!" Zarc whispered. His eyes were tearing up with joy. "And all on the same day too! I'm so proud of them!"
