They woke up to Brianna's phone ringing. The both looked at each other, confused, before Brianna picked up the phone. "Hello?" Brianna asked, confused. It was 5 in the morning, who could be calling her now?
"Hello is this Brianna Mulchfest?" The girl asked. "Yes ma'am it is she" Brianna replied. "Hi. You've been accepted to work as cashier at Ming King" She said. Brianna looked at Valerie, jaw dropped to the floor.
Brianna hung up the phone, jumping off the bed. "What, what?" Valerie said, confused as to what's going on. "Your girl just got a job!" Brianna said, smiling hard. Valerie's jaw dropped to the floor as well.
Valerie got up off the bed and jumped up to hug her. They shared loud cheers which causes Valerie's mom to knock on the door. "What's going on?" Valerie's mom asked them. "Brianna got the job!" Valerie said proudly.
For once, Brianna felt proud of herself. Like she did something that could make history. She felt alive again. Human. She felt like she's made something of herself. She felt like she could make her parents proud for once in her life. If that was possible..
"You know what that calls for?" Valerie's mom asked, snapping Brianna out of her thoughts. They all looked around at each other. "School skip day" They all said, same timing. Valerie's mom ran out of the room and went to hers, getting dressed. Valerie and Brianna staying in the room, doing the same.
They got dressed quicker than lightening. They both put on easy outfits. Sweatpants and a hoodie. Done and done. All three of them met up downstairs at the same time. Shoes and jacket on, ready to go.
They all ran to the car, taking their "Assigned seats" Valerie's mom driving, Valerie in the passenger seat, and Brianna in the back middle seat. Valerie's mom took off out of the driveway and they started blasting music.
They made their way to I-Hop for breakfast. They had the same taste in food. They liked the rich but ghetto food. Not to fancy but not too ghetto, just right. They basically ordered the whole menu and dug in. The fantasy of food world could go on and on nonstop in their imaginary minds.
---
School skip days were their days where they'd skip school with Valerie's mom when something exciting happens. They spend the day doing fun stuff like an arcade or trampoline park. Stuff like that.
After the I-Hop, they went to a bowling alley. They put the special bowling shoes on and started their adventures for the day. Having Valerie's mom around made Brianna feel special, loved. Valerie loved that for her. It was a match made in heaven. Valerie and Brianna. God knew they were bound to be friends.
The bowling alley was always a must-do on school skip days. It's their place to act up, to have fun and not give any fucks in the moment. The sound of the pins falling to the polished hard floor smoothed Valerie's mind each time.
The bowling alley fun ended. They made their way back to Valerie's house. Valerie and Brianna sat at the island as Valerie's mom made lunch. The happiness continued.

Brianna and Valerie woke up to the sound of Valerie's alarm, telling them to go to school and learn something for once. They got up and did their normal morning routine, followed by their walk to school.
It was Friday. Friday fun-day. Friday fun-day is the day where Brianna and Valerie take time to go do something fun or explore the world. To get away from the parents. Brianna hasn't been home in a while. She's a bit scared for what she may be in for when she goes back.
They were in Science class. The seating chart was not liked at all. It was very disliked. Valerie and Brianna sat by the popular girls who'd whisper loudly about them and laugh like something was funny. It doesn't get them anywhere now then it won't later in life either.
Brianna and Valerie always just minded their own business, not a giving a fuck about what they say. Valerie and Brianna would just look at each other when they'd say something and laugh. Petty people..
Science and Math were finally checked off of the list. It's lunch time. They went to their normal table and waited for Chris and John but they never showed. Valerie and Brianna shrugged it off, not caring.
A few minutes later they saw the boys sitting with the popular girls. Brianna nudged Valerie's arm and pointed. Brianna held both hands up in the air and got 2 high-fives from Valerie, them both laughing.
"Successful mission." Valerie said, causing them both to laugh. They went back to eating their lunch..
-----------------
School ended, which meant it's officially Friday fun-day. Valerie and Brianna stopped at Valerie's house first to change and set their things down. They exited the house, running down the street, holding hands. Not in a romantically, or at least Brianna thought.
Valerie's always felt something for Brianna, romantically. She just doesn't know how to tell her. She's scared to lose her best friend. It's the fear of losing her running constantly in her brain. It's not the best fear.
They ran to the arcade. The arcades always best at sunset. Brianna would sometimes feel like she had something for Valerie, she was just never sure. They entered and went to the receptionists desk.
"2 game cards please" Valerie said. The woman behind the desk nodded and gave them the cards as Brianna payed.
Happiness grew from there for the rest of the night.
