"And you're sure that you didn't go overkill? She looks almost as if she's dead." A female voice was the first thing that I heard when I came back to. I clenched my eyes closed, my head beginning to pound angrily at my skull. Frowning, I curled up into myself; maybe if I pretended to still be asleep, I would hear more from whoever had spoken. It seemed, though, as if I wasn't about to have that luxury.

"You're awake, eh? Guess that's good; how does your head feel?" I opened my eyes, wincing back when sunlight blared into my eyeballs. I winced back in pain, raising up a hand in front of my face to block out the sunlight. My eyes wandered from the bright light to the two faces that were flanking the doorway to the room that I was in. Looking around the room, I found myself in shock. I kept moving when I was unconscious; that couldn't be good for me. I was bound to get some trust issues at this rate.

I was in a wood house with logs for walls. Along the walls were many pictures of forests and pretty animals. I rubbed my temples for a minute, finally speaking up when I recognized one of the faces that was in front of me. "It hurts. What the hell do you want with me?! I'm not a fucking object."
The woman that had kidnapped me, who I believed was called Artemis, let out a heavy sigh. She looked between me and the other woman in the room for a moment before she finally turned back towards me. "I...I do apologize for the way that I had to bring you here, miss, but I couldn't be taking any chances. There are many other Olympians that have been revolting against the direct order that Zeus bestowed upon us."

All that sounded like a load of gobble-dy-gook. I blinked a few times, continuing to rub my head with my fingers. The other woman approached me and hesitantly put a hand on my head. The pain that had just been searing through my brain dulled out and disappeared within moments. I looked to her, giving her a small, thankful nod. That earned me a smile.

"Okay, okay, I'm going to need you to pause and rewind back to the very fucking beginning. I guess I'd better be more specific with my questions. My first question; who the hell are you two?" I pulled my hands from my head, now dramatically gesturing to the only other two beings in the room.

"That's a fair response, I suppose," the woman mumbled more to herself, sending the other girl a piercing glare. The second girl only seemed to barely be hiding a pleased 'i-told-you-so' look. "My name is Artemis and this lovely young lady who just eased your pain is Hestia. We, just like you, are immortals from the Olympian Pantheon."

I blinked again; she'd lost me again. "Oh...kay? I guess that wasn't specific enough. Um..." I groaned, the confusion only bringing back the headache. "How about this one; why am I even here? Are you sure you have the right girl, here?" I looked up to the second girl; Hestia.

She was fairly beautiful; she had olive colored skin, a pretty grey colored pair of eyes and ringlets of dark hair. She looked fairly youthful, with a smile that could've launched a 100 ships. She seemed to take me looking at her as me asking her the question. She gave a slow nod, finally speaking. I recognized the voice that had woken me up; it was as calming as a crackling fire in the middle of winter, comforting even.

"I understand that this is all overwhelming, love. We are very sure that we have the correct person, though. The aura around one like us is very specific to our kind. Let me start at the beginning. Do you remember when you died?"

Just the mere mention of the day brought me to my knees, hurling up nothing but stomach acids. I nodded weakly; she carefully made her way to my side, helping me through the pain. "Okay, honey. I know this is going to be a hard pill to swallow, but you are no longer a normal mortal. When you died, your genetics came alive and your soul was revived into an immortal body. Are you following so far?"
